SAG Awards Nominees React To Nominations – See Star Reactions!
The 2016 SAG Awards nominations were announced on Wednesday, and now the nominees are now reacting. As Gossip Cop noted, the Screen Actors Guild Awards is an annual ceremony celebrating the best acting performances in movies and television. See the reactions below by this year’s nominated actors.
Kevin Spacey, who was nominated for his performance in “House of Cards,” tweeted, “Congrats to my fellow nominees in Best Actor category and thanks to the SAG membership for my nomination!”
Best Actor nominee Bryan Cranston expressed, “A SAG nomination for Helen Mirren, myself, and the cast of Trumbo has me so joyous – I’m beside myself.” Best Actress nominee Brie Larson, recognized for her role in the movie Room, said, “What the?! I woke up early… now I’m hearing I was nominated for a @SAGAwards!! What a morning!!”
Uzo Aduba, who portrays Crazy Eyes on “Orange is the New Black,” tweeted, “Thank you @SAGawards for recognizing the cast of @OITNB & myself with this nomination. Means so much to us to tell this story.” Aduba’s co-star Laverne Cox similarly shared, “Congrats to the cast of @OITNB for our #sagawardsnoms for outstanding ensemble in a comedy series. Thanks to our fellow actors for the nod.”
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who was individually nominated for “Veep” along with the rest of the show’s ensemble cast, wrote, “So excited & thrilled for our happy group of idiot actors.” Meanwhile, Michael McKean congratulated his “Better Call Saul” co-star Bob Odenkirk, saying, “Congrats to our @mrbobodenkirk on the SAG nom. I didn’t even know he was in the union!” Meanwhile, “Modern Family” star Eric Stonestreet wrote, “Thank you fellow actors for our @SAGawards ensemble nomination. Means a tremendous amount us.”
Brian d’Arcy James, who appears in the film Spotlight, tweeted, “Thank you very much #SAGAwards for the @SpotlightMovie Ensemble nomination!!” Idris Elba, who scored Best Actor nominations for the movie Beasts of No Nation, as well as the TV miniseries “Luther,” expressed, “Thank you my family at @SAGawards I am truly Gassed.” And Christina Ricci, recognized for her work in “The Lizzie Borden Chronicles,” said, “Soulcycle finds my lost flat iron and I get a SAG award nomination?! No way. Thanks SAG!”
Eddie Redmayne, Best Actor nominee for The Danish Girl, wrote in a statement, “It means a great deal to be recognised by my peers during such a wonderful year of filmmaking… My thanks to SAG-AFTRA members for this nomination.” Redmayne’s co-star Alicia Vikander, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, said, “Thank you to the Screen Actors Guild for this nomination and for recognizing my work… it’s an honor to be among the incredible actresses in this category.”
