VIDEO: Sadie Robertson And Mark Ballas Perform AMAZING Super Mario Bros. Dance On Dancing With The Stars Finale
Sadie Roberson and Mark Ballas performed an amazing “Super Mario Bros.” routine on the “Dancing with the Stars” finale on Monday. Ballas created the dance for their freestyle, the second round of the night. He was dressed as Mario, while Robertson portrayed Princess Peach. The performance also featured Luigi, of course, as well as Toad, and a set inspired by the beloved video game. Watch the performance below!
Julianne Hough stood up afterward to declare, “GAME OVER! I just gave you all of my gold coins!” She went on to praise Ballas for his creativity. Bruno Tonioli called the routine “refreshing,” “original,” and “inspiring,” saying it made him feel like a child again.
Carrie Ann Iaba noted that the freestyle round can make or break a contestant, and told Robertson, “Obviously this made you.” She continued, “Welcome to the Hall of Fame, because to me that was the most memorable freestyle routine we’ve seen in ages.” Head judge Len Goodman was in agreement, saying, “Over the years there’s been so many freestyles. Some you remember, some you forget. This I promise you, I will never forget.”
Not surprisingly, Robertson and Ballas earned a perfect 40 from the judges. That was combined with the 38 points they received for reprise of their “Duck Dynasty”-inspired jive in the first round, for a total of 78 out of 80 for part one. That put them in second place on the leaderboard at the end of the night. They will go on to part two of the finale on Tuesday, where they will continue their quest for the Mirror Ball trophy against Janel Parrish & Val Chmerkovskiy (77 points) and Alfonso Ribeiro & Witney Carson (80 points). The scores from tonight will be added to the points from tomorrow’s fusion dances, then combined with viewers’ votes from tonight to determine the season 19 winner.
