Has Sacha Baron Cohen been banned from attending the Academy Awards on Sunday?

Conflicting reports emerged Wednesday night amid speculation that the actor planned to pull a red carpet stunt dressed as the title character of his upcoming film The Dictator.

While Deadline reports that The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences pulled Cohen’s tickets when they could not gain assurance that the comedian would not arrive in his “dictator” costume, an Oscars rep insists no decision has been made yet.

“We haven’t banned him,” the spokesperson tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re just waiting to hear what he’s going to do.”

Cohen is in Hugo, which is up for 11 Oscars, including Best Picture.
