Ryan Seacrest is NOT in talks to replace Nick Cannon as the new host of “America’s Got Talent,” despite a false webloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. We’re told it’s not true.

As Gossip Cop reported, Cannon announced he was quitting “America’s Got Talent” last month after NBC threatened to fire him over a racial joke he made in his comedy special. RadarOnline is now claiming Seacrest wants the vacant gig, quoting a so-called “source” as saying, “Ryan misses ‘American Idol’ and loves being on prime-time TV. This is an opportunity that has opened up and he is jumping at it.”

The outlet’s dubious insider further purports that immediately after the news emerged about Cannon leaving the show, “Ryan’s team sprung into action. They have made it clear that he wants this job and the reported $5 million that goes along with it.” But Gossip Cop checked with a reliable source close to Seacrest, who exclusively assures us the TV personality hasn’t had any discussions about joining the reality competition show.

In fact, Seacrest appeared on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” last week and addressed the speculation about him replacing Cannon, explaining, “That’s a rumor.” He added, “That’s not an easy show, and Nick and I have talked many times over the years. He’s very good at hosting that show, but I mean no one’s asked me to host that show. I haven’t really thought about it.”
