Ryan Seacrest is the new co-host with Kelly Ripa on “Live,” it was reported shortly before the official announcement on Monday.

Ripa revealed on Sunday afternoon that fans should tune in to Monday’s broadcast for a big announcement. In a video she posted on twitter, Ripa said, “Tune in tomorrow. Trust me,” while holding a mug with her name and a question mark below it. It was clear her new co-host for the ABC talk show would finally be unveiled.

As Gossip Cop reported, former co-host Michael Strahan left “Live” in May of last year. After several years of a successful partnership, Ripa was blindsided‎ when it was revealed he was quitting the show to become an anchor on “Good Morning America.” The longtime TV personality and former soap opera star felt betrayed by the decision, which she only found out about moments before the job change went public.

Following Strahan’s controversial exit, Ripa was joined over the last year by a wide variety of guest co-hosts.‎ That included close friends like Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, frequent partners such as Fred Savage, Jerry O’Connell and Christian Slater, and female gal pals including Carrie Ann Inaba. Now after a wait longer than most had anticipated, the weekday show has a new permanent pairing.

Seacrest, of course, is no stranger to live TV or ABC. For the past 11 years, he’s been hosting the network’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest” from Times Square. Click to watch video of Ripa announcing Seacrest as her new co-host.
