Ryan Seacrest: “I Didn’t Want To Say Goodbye” To ‘American Idol’ (VIDEO)
Ryan Seacrest somewhat explained his cryptic “American Idol” farewell on Twitter on Friday. If you missed it, check out the video below.
As Gossip Cop reported, Seacrest closed Thursday’s series finale with a comment that left many thinking that the FOX music competition’s last episode may not be the “last” for very long. With the credits rolling after Trent Harmon was crowned the season 15 winner, the host said, “We have had some incredible talent on this show like that. Whether it’s the stars we created or the judges behind the desk, the real reason our lives have changed forever is you at home.”
“We know that, we appreciate that,” Seacrest continued. “And one more time — this is so tough — we say to you from Hollywood, goodnight America.” But when the screen went to black, Seacrest very clearly added, “For now.”
Those two words sparked immediate online chatter about whether the finale was some kind of fake-out. Not quite. Seacrest tweeted Friday evening, “I didn’t want to say goodbye last night.” He went on, “Thank you for 15 amazing seasons #IdolFinale.”
That being said, the future of the “Idol” franchise is indeed up in the air. As Gossip Cop reported, the show’s creator, Simon Fuller, revealed earlier this week that he wants to continue the show in a “revamped” form. “There are loads of ideas being shared and I’m deep in thought about how we can evolve ‘Idol,'” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Fuller added, “The next generation of ‘Idol’ — and ‘Idol’ will certainly be coming back for sure — will have a youthful glow and it will be pioneering again, just as it was when we first began.” So perhaps Seacrest’s sign-off really is just “for now.” Watch it below.
