Ryan Seacrest NOT “Devastated” Over Julianne Hough Engagement, Despite Report (EXCLUSIVE)
Ryan Seacrest is NOT “devastated” over Julianne Hough’s engagement, despite a report from this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the story. A mutual friend of ours and Seacrest’s insists the claim is “totally not true.”
The allegation can be found in the pages of the National Enquirer, with the headline “Cryin’ Ryan! Seacrest sobs as true love Julianne plans to wed hockey star.” According to the supermarket tabloid, a “remorseful” Seacrest “has been kicking himself ever since he heard” Hough accepted Brooks Laich’s proposal last month. A so-called “insider” alleges, “Ryan is completely devastated. He’s been pining for Julianne ever since they split, telling friends she’s the one who got away.”
The rest of the Enquirer story rehashes Seacrest and Hough’s ill-fated relationship, and gives a he-said, she-said explanation for why they supposedly didn’t work out. But while the “American Idol” host has had other romances since their split, the magazine’s “source” claims, “In between each girl, Ryan called Julianne, begging to reunite with her.” Of course, the Enquirer adds that Seacrest’s alleged pleas “have fallen on deaf ears.”
Convenient, right? It’s a tried and true tabloid move to claim a celebrity’s ex is “devastated” when he or she gets engaged to someone else, and it’s also typical for such stories to allege it’s proof that some reunion attempt failed. But in most cases, including this one, it bears no resemblance to reality.
A friend of Seacrest’s exclusively tells Gossip Cop that not only is the Enquirer story “totally not true,” but that he also personally reached out to congratulate Hough on her joyous news. “He is genuinely happy for her and told her so,” reveals our mutual pal. If only the National Enquirer was “happy” to report facts instead of fiction.
