Ryan Lochte TYR Endorsement Deal Announced
Ryan Lochte has a new swimming endorsement deal with TYR, it was announced on Thursday. The news comes nearly six months after he was dropped by Speedo in the wake of his Rio robbery scandal.
TYR Sport, which makes swimwear and other sporting apparel, says in a release, “TYR Sport is proud to announce the signing of 12X Olympic Medalist Ryan Lochte to its roster of sponsored athletes. As a truly iconic figure in the world of sports, Ryan has earned his status as one of history’s most recognizable names in swimming.”
Lochte will star in the brand’s “Just Let Me Work” campaign, which “will provide fans with a glimpse into what motivates the decorated athlete moving forward.” The Olympian says in a statement, “I am thrilled that I will be continuing my swimming career with TYR Sport. I still have so much more I want to accomplish and TYR offers the perfect platform to achieve those goals.
He adds, “I’ve always been very impressed with the quality of their gear and feel fortunate to be part of their family. I look forward to the next chapter.” Matt DiLorenzo, the CEO of TYR Sport, also says, “TYR is incredibly excited to welcome Ryan Lochte to our family.”
The executive continues, “Through his work in the pool he has elevated the sport of swimming on a global scale. However, it is his humble and caring approach toward his fans that has proven truly commendable. As a company we stand behind Ryan, and look forward to seeing what he can achieve.”
As Gossip Cop reported, Lochte was dropped by Speedo, and other sponsors such as Ralph Lauren, last August after it was revealed he largely lied about being robbed in Rio during the Olympic games. Now, as part of the endorsement announcement, TYR released a 30-second promo video highlighting Lochte’s highs and lows as he swims in a pool with a TYR swim cap. Lochte posted the clip on Instagram, writing, “Here’s to new beginnings @TYRsport! #TeamTYR #JustLetMeWork.”
Lochte revealed in a subsequent post that the shoot took place last week. “So excited to finally announce my partnership with TYR,” he wrote. “I can’t wait for what the future holds!” Watch below.
