Ryan Lochte Protesters: “He Embarrassed Americans” – Watch Interview Video
The two men arrested for crashing the “Dancing with the Stars” stage defended their protest against Ryan Lochte in an interview broadcast on “GMA” on Wednesday. See video below.
As Gossip Cop reported, Lochte and partner Cheryl Burke had finished their debut “Dancing with the Stars” routine when Barzeen Soroudi and Sam Satoodeh began yelling. The two ran onto the stage, but were quickly apprehended by security. They’ve since been charged with misdemeanor trespassing.
Speaking to an ABC reporter, both defended their actions. Soroudi said, “We were actually at the Olympics. So what happened was, once Lochte did what we did, embarrassed Americans, the climate changed. He embarrassed Americans on the world stage, and this was our form of protest against that.”
And Satoodeh insisted, “Lochte is a liar, a coward, and under Brazilian law, a criminal.” To be fair, Lochte has not actually been convicted of any crime at this point. Some could also argue that while Lochte may have indeed “embarrassed Americans,” Satoodeh and Soroudi did, too, with their disruptive and frightening actions.
They were also joined by a group of female protesters who shouted from the audience, but it’s not believed any of the women will face charges. Check out the video below.
