E L James Speaks Out on Ryan Gosling Fifty Shades of Grey Casting Rumors

Impatient with the lack of actual Fifty Shades of Grey casting news, a number of outlets have decided to go ahead and just run rumors.

Earlier this week, Now magazine reported that Ryan Gosling was the frontrunner for the role of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of E L James’ best-selling erotic novel.

The mag quoted James’ husband, Niall Leonard, as saying that “last he heard,” Gosling was the top choice to portray the entrepreneur with the dark sex life.

Various sites picked up the rumor without bothering to check on whether or not it was accurate.

Bret Easton Ellis, who had wanted to direct the movie, also claimed that porn star James Deen (who stars in Ellis’ upcoming independent film The Canyons) was up for the role of Grey.

He tweeted, “Just got inside information that James Deen is actually in the running to play Christian in ‘Fifty Shades ofGrey’ with E.L. James support.”

However, as with previous casting rumors, these new stories should be taken VERY lightly.

On Friday, James herself responded to the latest round of speculative casting reports, saying on Twitter, “All rumour at the moment *rolls eyes* :)”

The film’s co-producer Dana Brunetti retweeted her post.

Trust us: When there is actual Fifty Shades of Grey casting news to report, Gossip Cop will be on it.

Until then, perhaps the blogosphere should give it a rest.

    I see Christian Grey in Matt Bomer and Henry Cavill. But … I hope they cast someone unknown for the part. This movie will not need a big name to draw in the crowds. And frankly, I would rather look at a fresh face.

    Don’t you all realize that the reason Rob Pattison was in London last week was for meetings with E.L. James so he could play Fifty. Now that Kristen is out of the picture he’s looking for his next love interest and figures a story based on Twilight will help.

    He is who EL James was picturing when she wrote the book. Just go to Twilighted.com and check out the Master of the Universe thread. The only pictures you will see are of Rob Pattison. Oh and he didn’t do any press or plugging while in London so …

And if you say have read fanfic and didn’t like it then either you are a liar or you just haven’t read the right one.     Thank you, I agree Alex Skarsgard as Christian Grey. Theirs no actor out there who could pull off that character like Alex.In the books Anna describes Christian as having a cleft in his chin, being tall and very built. Ive never seen Ryan in a nude scene. Alex loves nudity and has no problem with it.He was born to play that part.I think Kristen Stewart would be a perfect Anna.

    That’s something the screen writers could change. Make Christian Grey a little older. It never made any sense in the books that Christian was so young.Alex is 36, but he could play a 30 year old. If youve ever watched TRUEBLOOD, You’d see what I was talking about.He could look much younger if he didnt comb his hair back. He looks a lot younger in ‘What Maisey Knew’ it’s all about his hair style, He looks younger when he doesn’t comb his hair back.

    Matt Bomer has already said, he wouldn’t play that role.If he did and pulled it off, He’d deserve a Academy award. Matt is gay. I wish more heart throb gay actors would come out. Being gay wouldnt make a heart throb actor any less attractive.Ive heard of so many heart throb actors rumored of being gay. If Keanu Reeves came out it wouldnt make him less sexy. Ive heard gay rumors of Keanu for years.
