Ryan Gosling on Eva Mendes & Baby Girl: I Have “Amazing Women In My Life”
Ryan Gosling made a rare acknowledgment of his relationship with Eva Mendes and their baby daughter Esmeralda during an event at the SXSW Music, Film and Interactive Festival in Austin, Texas, on Friday. The star was speaking about his directorial debut, Lost River, with Guillermo del Toro.
“I really like working with my friends; I love all of these people,” Gosling told the audience, to which Del Toro replied, “You have a baby with one of them!” Gosling responded, “I do. I have lots of complicated, amazing women in my life, and that’s increasing.” Mendes and Gosling welcomed Esmeralda back in September.
The couple refused to discuss Mendes’ pregnancy while she was expecting. When she appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in December, three months after giving birth, Mendes was good-naturedly called a “liar” by the host, who played a previous clip of the actress denying that she was pregnant.
“I’m exhausted and it’s the best,” Mendes told DeGeneres about first-time motherhood. “Really, I’m so incredibly tired. I thought I was tired before at times, but no. Nothing like this, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Before his brief comment about parenthood on Friday, Gosling had mostly stayed quiet on the subject, as he has regarding most of his personal life over the years.
