VIDEO: Ryan Gosling Crashes Russell Crowe Awards Show Presentation, Shows Off Australian Accent
Ryan Gosling crashed Russell Crowe’s live-via-satellite presentation speech at Australia’s AACTA Awards this week, giving a taste of his own Australian accent and exciting everyone, um, Down Under. Watch the video below!
Crowe is in Los Angeles, where he’s filming The Nice Guys, and was set to present the nominees for an award when his co-star Gosling entered the frame and asked what was happening. After explaining that he was presenting an honor, Crowe turned to the camera and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, you may not recognize him with clothes on… Ryan Gosling.”
That’s when Gosling tried out his best Australian accent, which… needs some work, although the crowd seemed to enjoy it. “It’s OK, I’m an honorary Australian,” Gosling told Crowe. “I lived in New Zealand for, like, two years.” The Australian audience really enjoyed that, because Americans apparently think the two countries are the same.
The Nice Guys, by the way, is about a private investigator looking into the apparent suicide of a porn star in 1970s Los Angeles, which could explain Gosling’s facial hair. Disappointingly, he remained clothed throughout the bit. But it was still entertaining. Watch the video below, and tell us what you think!
