RZA: Russell Crowe Spit At Azealia Banks
RZA admitted in a new interview that Russell Crowe spit at Azealia Banks during their altercation at a dinner party last week, but he still defended the actor and maintained that Banks initiated the fight. In a subsequent Facebook post, the rapper further detailed how the incident occurred.
As Gossip Cop reported earlier this week, Banks claimed on Facebook that Crowe called her the N-word, choked her and spit on her during a fight at a party in his hotel suite. She was brought to the event by RZA, who was one of around 10 guests Crowe invited for dinner. But the actor’s camp insists Banks insulted him and his friends before threatening to stab one of the women with a piece of glass, resulting in the actor physically removing her from the suite.
As Gossip Cop also noted, Banks later filed a battery report against Crowe, and is sticking by her story. RZA, however, told TMZ on Thursday Banks is mostly to blame for what transpired, confirming she grabbed a glass and tried to attack one of the female guests. The rapper further explained that after Crowe forced her out of the room, “she tried to get back inside.” He added, “Russell does spit at her. The spit didn’t hit her. If anything, the spit would have got on me because I was in between them.”
On Facebook, RZA further noted that Banks became “loud and obnoxious” during the party before getting physical, adding, “Azealia threatened to cut a girl in the face with a glass, then actually grabs a glass and physically attacks for no logical reason.” He continued, “Russell blocked the attack and expelled her from the suite. Seeing is believing and I saw her behave as an obnoxious erratic individual and in the circles I frequent this was unprecedented.”
RZA went on say he believed Banks’ behavior may have been the result of “meds or booze,” and strongly asserted, “THIS IS NOT A RACE OR GENDER ISSUE.” As for Banks’ allegation that Crowe called her the N-word, the rapper insisted he “did not hear Russell call her” any racial slurs.
