Russell Brand Tweets Daily Mail Reporter’s Phone Number (PHOTO)
Russell Brand tweeted a Daily Mail reporter’s phone number on Monday after the journalist allegedly harassed the star’s mom. The comedian posted a photograph of Neal Sears’ business card that could be seen by his more than 8 million followers. See below.
The star was immediately hit with blowback for sharing the personal information, with one follower tweeting, “What a horrible thing for @rustyrockets to do. Expected better, if I’m honest.” Brand replied, “got that card when it was put through a family members door.”
He ended up deleting the photo tweet, and explained in a follow-up post, “That was a bit nuts. He put it thru me door with ‘please call’ on it. They’re bothering me Mum. Deleted it. I’m human.” There’s since been speculation that Twitter could ban Brand for violating their policies on sharing other users’ private information, but more than 24 hours later, his page remains active.
He also seems unfazed by the possibility of a punishment, even retweeting a Guardian article on the topic. And this wasn’t even Brand’s first run-in with a journalist in the last week. As Gossip Cop previously reported, last Monday the actor and activist had an on-camera argument with a local news reporter during a protest in London. Brand later admitted he overreacted, and many people think he did again in this instance as well. Check out a screengrab of Brand’s deleted tweet below, and tell us what you think.
