Russell Brand “Banned” from People’s Choice Awards?
11:53 am, January 6th, 2012
British tabloids are spreading reports that Russell Brand was “banned” from next week’s People’s Choice Awards in the wake of his split from nominee Katy Perry.
Brand has been “unceremoniously uninvited from the ceremony,” claims the Daily Mail, with organizers allegedly wanting to “make sure there was no bitter confrontation” between the soon-to-be exes.
The event will be Perry’s first outing since divorce plans were revealed.
According to a so-called “source” for the Mirror, Brand is “no longer” on the guest list, having been taken off in order to “avoid any awkwardness.”
But the report is totally false.
“This is not true,” a source close to Brand tells Gossip Cop, adding that the comedian actually passed on the ceremony back in early December.
In other words, the tabloids are trying to turn the fact that Brand was never going to attend the People’s Choice Awards into some kind of major drama.
Gossip Cop will have all the real dish from the ceremony next week.
