Russell Brand Arrested For Felony in New Orleans for Cell Phone Attack

Russell Brand has been arrested on a felony charge after wrestling away a paparazzo’s cell phone and throwing it through a nearby window on Monday, Gossip Cop has confirmed with the New Orleans Police.

The comedian, who turned himself in, was booked on Thursday afternoon and released shortly after, says the Sheriff’s Office.

Earlier Thursday, an arrest warrant had been issued for Brand, who’s been charged with “simple criminal damage” in the amount of $700.

Property damage in Louisiana that exceeds $500 is considered a felony.

Brand is currently in New Orleans to film a movie.

In 2010, he tangled with a paparazzo at LAX airport after the photographer attempted to shoot up his then-fiancee Katy Perry’s skirt.

    If I was hounded by assholes all day yelling and asking personal questions I’d probably do the same thing. The paparazzi suck, but it is what it is.

    Russel was in the wrong here but, so was the photographer. He needs to understand that with a record like his (or ever for that matter), he need not right a wrong with another wrong. Hopefully, Russel can find some peace and deal with his anger issues and, the press can learn to leave him alone while he heals.

    The papz was probably stalking Russel and trying to take a pic of his every move with the cell phone. The New Orleans police department should consider that. I wonder how some people can keep their patience with those awful things. Next time Russel you carry a camera and take a pic of those awful things stalking you, then carry the pic to the police department and have him arrested. If that papz is not from New Orleans, then he is definitely stalking you. Then that doesn’t matter, just take a pic. I would guess that Russel went on to pay to keep from being tied up in a count case. It’s crazy what those indecent papz get away with.
