Rowan Blanchard has been cast as the daughter of Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) and Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel) in ”Girl Meets World,” the highly anticipated Disney spin-off to “Boy Meets World.”

The 11-year-old, who has appeared in Spy Kids: All the Time in World in 4D and The Back-up Plan, landed the title role of Riley Matthews after a nationwide casting search.

Savage excitedly announced the news on Twitter, writing, “I have a beautiful, new daughter. Welcome to the family @rowblanchard! #GirlMeetsWorld.”

“Boy Meets World” creator Michael Jacobs, who is behind the new project, told Entertainment Weekly, “As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews.”

Jacobs added, “Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well.”

As Gossip Cop reported, the new Disney Channel show revolves around the preteen daughter of Cory and Topanga more than a decade after the conclusion of the original show.

The pilot for “Girl Meets World” is set to begin shooting next month.

I’m excited for it, hopefully it will be good.
They made a good choice, she looks like she could be their child.

She totally looks like she could be Cory and Topanga’s kid!
Heck, when my friend from my office at DISH first sent me Blanchard’s picture, I
thought she was one of their daughter’s in real life! This great casting choice
is another sign of how well this show is turning out so far, and I’m anxious to
see the end result. I’ll just have to tame this anxiousness by digging up some
of the original Boy Meets World episodes to record for a mini marathon. I could
definitely see those recordings stacking up on my DVR quickly though, but I’m
not sweating about it! Now that I have the DISH Hopper DVR on my side, with 450
hours of HD recording space, I’ll be able to store this Boy Meets World
collection without a problem. As an added bonus, with that much memory space, I’ll
be able to record the new Girl Meets World episodes as well!
