Rosie Perez Sues “Law & Order: SVU” Over Neck Injury

Rosie Perez is suing “Law & Order: SVU” producers for a neck injury she suffered while filming a guest role on the series in September 2009.

According to legal documents filed in Brooklyn, Perez claims she was hurt while shooting a scene in which she fights with another woman through the front window of a car.

Over the course of multiple takes, several discs in Perez’s neck became herniated.

She later required a discectomy and the fusion of vertebrae. Lopez says she continues to suffer severe pain, impeding her career.

Perez’s lawsuit alleges that Northern Entertainment Productions and DDF Films, the production companies behind the show, “recklessly and carelessly fail[ed] to provide skilled performers or experienced stunt personnel.”

“This is a case of a woman being severely injured because someone wasn’t taking care of the people who work for them, and we’re going to make them pay,” her lawyer Brian O’Dwyer tells the New York Post.

Perez rose to fame with roles in films including Do The Right Thing and White Men Can’t Jump.

    Um, if it’s not in your contract that you are supposed to have a stunt double, I think the actor should take the responsibility themselves. If I was a betting woman, I would say the studio is safe with this, but they’ll probably settle with her. And then miraculously she will recover.

    She was injured in Sept.2009. Wonder why in the world did she wait so long. Plus like Regina wrote why didn’t Rosie Perez insist on a stunt double. I feel sorry she hurt her neck. OTOH what of being responsible. Speaking of neck injury this reminds of the woman who injured her neck in dancing with stars. Is Gossipcop racing neck and neck for neck stories?
