Busting bad dish!

Site Warns Kristen Stewart to Watch Out for Rooney Mara

Truth rating: 0

(HollywoodLife.com)

What’s that we smell in the late summer breeze?

Is it vapid “analysis” mixed with juvenile passive-aggression?

Why, HollywoodLife must be near!

“Watch Your Back Kristen Stewart!! Rooney Mara Stole Your Part. Could She Steal Your Whole Career?” speculates a new headline.

Does HollywoodLife need a paper bag to get through this hyperventilation?

Stewart, explains the site, has been Hollywood’s “It” girl, “but she lost out to newcomer Rooney Mara for the next generation of book-to-screen-heroine, Lisbeth Salander.”

“And in the fickle world of fame it isn’t hard to envision a future where Rooney can use her leverage… to eclipse Kristen’s star power.”

Fame is indeed fickle, but it’s actually not clear at all how much interest Stewart ever had in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Last month, outlets with actual information had narrowed the field of potential Salanders down to Mara and three other actresses — none of whom was Stewart.

In fact, there was more Dragon Tattoo buzz in recent months about Ellen Page, Natalie Portman and Carey Mulligan.

Did Mara just ruin all of their careers, too?

Stewart and Mara “will obviously be competing for similar roles going forward,” says HollywoodLife. “They’re both talented young actresses of a certain age with the acting chops it takes to tackle difficult roles.”

The site consults an author who “has no doubt that Rooney could easily eclipse… Kristen’s fame.”

What allegedly makes Stewart’s career so vulnerable?

The biggest factor, apparently, is that Stewart is “already known for being a kind of curmudgeon, she tries to be unlikable despite her film’s popularity, whereas Rooney is much sweeter.”

HollywoodLife portrays Stewart as though she’s an eternal curmudgeon, but that doesn’t make it so. And the assertion that she “tries to be unlikable” is utterly bizarre.

Later the supposed expert adds, “If [Stewart] is arrogant enough to think she won’t be replaced in the hearts and minds of fans, tell her to call Hanson and ask how things are going.”

That was actually said.

Really.

Apparently, Stewart’s career mirrors that of 1990s pop act Hanson, and she now teeters on the edge of oblivion because Rooney Mara got a part in a movie over every single other young actress in Hollywood.

None of this makes any sense, of course, which is fitting since it runs on HollywoodLife.

Rooney Mara is a rising actress with a bright future and many roles ahead of her.

So is Stewart.

We wish HollywoodLife would stop trying to pit them against each other.

Kristen is 20 years old. Rooney Mara is at least 24 years old. The speculation about Kristen being the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo came from the fans, blogs and the tabloids. Kristen Stewart herself and her camp never said that they were even interested in the film. She was never in the mix as Scan said. It was outsiders who thought that she would be great for the role. She was polite at every interview when asked but from the beginning she stated that she was committed to the completion of the Twilight Saga.
Quite honestly, every cast that has worked with Kristen has only stated how great she was to work with, how dedicated, committed and how cooperative she has always been. I have seen so many interviews with Kristen and she has always been cooperative, answered the question completely no matter how they silly they seemed. When approached by fans, she has been very nice.
The only time that I have seen her be quiet, reserved and sometimes angry is with the paparazzi.
All of this jealousy, and negativity thrown at Kristen is getting very boring. The Fuller article gives me the impression that because there is nothing substantial that you can write about her because she just works and stays out of trouble there was a need to make something up. Because Kristen’s name will get hits to any website that has her name it or because people will purchase the tabloid because it mentions her, the decision was made to make up a stupid story.
There were quite a few other talented famous young actresses that were named while the selection process was going on, how come there’s no big article how Page, Mulligan, Portman were not selected?

The only reason Kristen Stewart is in Hollywood Life’s headline (care of Sony) is because nobody gave a sh!t after Rooney Mara was announced as Lisbeth Salander. Repeat that: Nobody. Gave. A. Sh!t. The announcement did nothing to increase the buzz on the upcoming movie and franchise trilogy nor increase book sales. So what’s the best way to draw attention to Rooney Mara? Put Kristen Stewart in the headline of course! Sony made a huge mistake rushing to make this movie without Kristen Stewart. Stewart will be free by March next year. Sony should have waited. Nothing is worse than a potential trilogy tanking on its first installment. Lisbeth Salander with dimples? LOL! Prepare to lose money Sony. You should have waited for Kristen. But since you didn’t and are only realising your mistake now, what’s the harm in using her name every possible way, right?

  • alexi

And about Rooney Mara stealing the spotlight from Kristen Stewart, well, shouldn’t her announcement as Lisbeth Salander have done that? Problem is, nobody gave a rat’s azz when Rooney Mara was announced as Salander. Her announcement was dead-on-arrival. So what does Sony do? Well, yes, put Kristen Stewart in the headline even if the final selection didn’t even include Kristen Stewart. Look Sony, you couldn’t wait for Stewart. Stop using her name already to draw attention to this trilogy and let Rooney Mara take the burden, as she should. Kristen Stewart carried Twilght’s Bella Swan to three blockbusters so far. Don’t put the burden of creating buzz for Dragon Tattoo rest on Kristen Stewart. Like, hello! She’s NOT in your movie. Make Rooney Mara work her azz and do her job, as she should.

    Way to go, Alexi!

I think if she had called Hanson, they would reply their career is just fine. They have a good group of fans and do what they love, yeah maybe they arn’t making millions but they are still making a career out of playing music, plus all married with kids, and happy with their own record label. Also I don’t think Kristen’s career is being threaten by whats her name…I don’t think she would have time to do that movie with Two Breaking Dawn movies ahead of her…it’s just a lot of media outlets want to see Kristen fail because she doesn’t prance around and pose for the paparazzi…

  • MissZee

oh kristen stewart poses to the paparazzi…she just sticks her middle finger up in the process LOL

  • stelange

well, of course she’ll get a lot of attention if they keep on associating kristen’s name with her. can’t sony do their own pr without pulling this kind of bs. total cr@p.

  • scan

    Mara is 25.

I just wanted to say Thank You Gossip Cop for existing! In a world so full of bullsh*t this site is a beacon of sanity and light.
And on the subject, as a Swedish woman,I was so exited when I first heard Hollywood was making the Stieg Larsson triolgy, and got even more so when names like Natalie Portman, Carey Mulligan and Kristen Stewart got thrown around. I’m not a huge fan of Kristen, but she would have killed it as Lisbeth; she has that cool edge that is so necessary for it. When I heard they had cast this unknown, sweet looking girl my interest just fizzled, meh… I just don’t care so much anymore. I was already a little disappointed with the casting of Daniel Craig but this latest casting killed it dead for me.

  • shirloverobsten

nice that it is on a rumor level. sony en t’ were very clear from the start that they are looking for an UNKNOWN actress for the part (get your facts right) why does gossip have to be nasty….why create anger or competition were there isn’t one.

  • choreniz

That is complete B.S. Kristen has a boyfriend, whom she has been with for many years. They were in the movie Speak together. Maybe Robert likes Kristen, but they’re sooo not together. They’re just making crap up for people gullible enough to buy it.

  • criskoz

truth is nobody wants to know this actress who was chosen, and now this film not matter …..Kristen refer only to “call attention to this project failed, dirty game
    ridiculous

  • SM76

Kristen is in one of the biggest franchises and has millions of fans and not to mention a hot boyfriend. I’m sure she’ll get roles she wants and will continue to do her own thing. Whatever.

  • bluebird
