Ronda Rousey Needs Six Months Before She Can Eat Apples Again After Brutal Holly Holm Beating
Ronda Rousey is opening up about last month’s shocking loss to Holly Holm, admitting not only that she’s “embarrassed” by it, but that the impact she took to her mouth when she was knocked out was so intense, it could be up to six months before she can chew properly.
In a profanity-laced interview with ESPN The Magazine, Rousey says she won’t be stepping into the octagon again anytime soon. In fact, the beating the former UFC champion received from Holm was so severe, she went into hiding. The athlete reveals she went to a remote Texas ranch with boyfriend Travis Browne, turned off her cellphone, and hid from the world for days following her defeat. She’s still beating herself up (apparently Holm’s brutal kicks weren’t sufficient enough) for what she deems a lackluster performance. “I just feel so embarrassed,” declares Rousey, adding, “I wasn’t even [expletive]ing there.”
But despite being “really [expletive]ing sad” about the loss, Rousey says her family has convinced her to come out of hiding and think about what she’ll do next. A rematch date with Holm hasn’t yet been set, but Rousey says she’s determined to take on the new champion again and regain her title. “I need to come back. I need to beat this chick,” she says. “Who knows if I’m going to pop my teeth out or break my jaw or rip my lip open. I have to [expletive]ing do it.”
As for Rousey’s immediate future? She confesses, “It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact.” TELL US: Do you think Rousey has what it takes to beat Holm in a rematch?
