Ronda Rousey: “I Was Thinking About Killing Myself” After Loss To Holly Holm
Ronda Rousey says on Tuesday’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that she was “thinking about killing myself” after losing her UFC title match to Holly Holm last year. Watch below.
DeGeneres brought up the crushing defeat after discussing Rousey’s new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover, asking the MMA fighter what was “different” about his particular fight. “I don’t make any excuses or anything like that,” Rousey insisted, going on to call it “destiny.”
Still clearly broken up over the loss, Rousey became choked up as she candidly confessed, “In the medical room [after the match] and I was like down in the corner and I was like, ‘What am I anymore if I’m not this?’ And I was literally sitting there and thinking about killing myself. I’m like, ‘I’m nothing. What do I do anymore? No one gives a sh*t about me anymore without this.'”
“To be honest,” Rousey continued, “I looked up and I saw my man, Travis [Browne] was standing there, and I looked up at him, and I was like, ‘I need to have his babies. I need to stay alive.’ Really that was it.”
Rousey went on to admit that she never told her suicidal thoughts to anyone but Browne until now. Check out the full video below.
