WATCH: Miley Cyrus Defends Using Little People in Ronan Farrow Interview
Ronan Farrow used his new MSNBC show as a platform for discussing the controversy surrounding Miley Cyrus, whom he interviewed for W, while also letting one of her most vocal critics speak out. Check out the video below!
The host introduced behind-the-scenes footage from this W conversations with Cyrus, in which the singer explains that her stage show’s inclusion of little people does not “exploit” them, and again defends herself against charges of racism.
Afterward, Hollis Jane, the little person who called being part of Cyrus’ infamous VMAs performance “degrading,” told Farrow that while she felt like she was “losing [her] identity” as a prop for the pop star, her problem is less with Cyrus herself than with the media’s overall portrayal of little people.
Jane said she wanted a “call to action” for little people to stop letting themselves be treated as “jokes” in mainstream culture.
