VIDEO: Robin Williams’ Son Zak Speaks Out For First Time Since Dad’s Death
Robin Williams’ son Zak is speaking out for the first time since his father’s suicide. “We’re doing okay. We’re working hard to build our strength and acclimating to the new normal,” he told “Entertainment Tonight” at Thursday’s Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation fundraising gala in New York, where Robin’s life was honored.
Zak continued, “A large part of what we’re doing through this grieving process is giving and spending time focusing on others.” He said that his family had been touched by fans’ support in the months since his famous dad’s death. “The outpouring was remarkable. People shared their loving words, supportive words, art, and all sorts of amazing tributes to my father.”
Robin Williams ended his life on August 11. His daughter Zelda, Zak’s sister, recently got a tattoo in his memory: a hummingbird on her right hand, along with Robin’s birthdate. She explained, “I’ll always put my hand out to shake with a smile.” She had been more vocal than Zak in the immediate aftermath of their dad’s suicide, sharing tributes to him on social media.
