Robin Williams fell off the wagon during his reluctant and ill-fated return to series TV when he insisted on downing real booze during a shoot at the famed Spago restaurant last year,” begins a New York Post “exclusive.”

According to the tabloid, Williams was sober when he began taping the particular scene for his CBS show “The Crazy Ones” in May 2013, but while filming progressed inside the chic Beverly Hills eatery, “Robin insisted on a real drink,” says the paper’s source.

“No one had seen him drinking before this,” notes the Post’s source, adding, “One drink led to another, but it seemed to calm him down.”

While it’s true that William had past problems with alcohol, and had sought treatment, the paper’s claim about his boozing on the set of “The Crazy Ones” is simply untrue.

Williams’ widow Susan Schneider says, “Robin’s sobriety was intact.”

Additionally, Williams’ rep tells Gossip Cop, “So much of that story is false that I don’t know where to begin.”

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Williams, who was found dead at the age of 63 on Monday, had also been battling Parkinson’s Disease.

In the days since his shocking death, there have been a number of made-up stories about Williams, including that he had “money troubles.”

It would be nice if the media afforded the late Oscar winner the same respect that he’s being paid by his family, colleagues and fans.
