Robert Pattinson NOT “Struggling With Depression,” Despite Report
Robert Pattinson is NOT “struggling with depression,” despite a speculative and shameful new report. Gossip Cop can debunk the claim.
Not surprisingly, the rumor comes from Celeb Dirty Laundry, a site that has a history of making up off-base stories about Pattinson. In its latest piece, the outlet asks, “Is Robert Pattinson struggling with another round of depression as his relationship with FKA Twigs is falling apart?” CDL, of course, doesn’t know the answer to its own question, but just wanted to throw the sensational claim out there.
According to the webloid, it’s possible “the reheated interest in his career and personal life are once again taking a toll on the Twilight star, as his engagement to FKA Twigs appears to be crumbling.” Repeatedly switching back and forth between “Robert,” “Pattinson,” “Twigs,” “Tahliah,” and “Barnett,” the site spews forth nonsense about the couple’s relationship.
“As for Robert’s attitude… he has returned to his love privacy [sic] and maintaining a low profile. Could he be struggling with another round of depression?” asks CDL, going on to use one of the actor’s own quotes about mental illness against him. The site ends its story by asking for a third time, “Could his relationship problems with FKA Twigs send Robert Pattinson into another round of depression?”
Gossip Cop shouldn’t have to say how irresponsible or offensive it is to spread such unfounded claims. Depression is not a term to throw out unsubstantiated just for the sake of scoring web traffic. Mental illness is a serious topic, and when Pattinson has spoken about it in hindsight, he’s done so with the sensitivity such a subject requires.
Pattinson is doing just fine, and to sensationally speculate otherwise does a disservice to both him and readers. Gossip Cop doesn’t have a high bar set for Celeb Dirty Laundry, but amazingly, the outlet keeps lowering it.
