Busting bad dish!

Robert Pattinson Is Not About to Quit Acting

Truth rating: 0

(HollywoodLife.com)

The reporting-challenged alarmists at HollywoodLife, always eager to make mountains of molehills, today take a benign item about how Robert Pattinson wishes he had more time for music… and interpret it to mean he might leave movies.

“OH, NO! Is Robert Pattinson Quitting Acting to Strum His Guitar?” cries the site.

Um, we’re pretty sure he’s not, but let’s read on to see what “evidence” HollywoodLife provides.

The article is built around a piece in The Sun professing that Pattinson is “tormented” about whether to stick with acting.

“I always think there must be more,” says the star. “I get angry, because I think I’m missing out.” Known to be fond of playing guitar, Pattinson regrets that he hasn’t “been able to do [his] music for ages” due to his schedule, because he can’t “concentrate on two things at once.”

That’s the thrust of the Sun item — the highly sought actor doesn’t have time to focus on his other love.

Or, according to HollywoodLife, Pattinson’s “apparently so burnt by acting and the utter burdens of being a celebrity that the Twilight star could be finished with acting altogether.”

Wait.

“Finished with acting altogether”?

What?

Where does Pattinson give any indication the “burdens” of celebrity have left him so “burnt” he’s going to call it a wrap at the age of 23?

Pattinson is bummed he can’t spend more time working on writing songs and playing guitar. He’s mentioned it before.

But there’s zero reason to sound the sirens and claim he “could be finished with acting altogether.” A Hollywood industry source says there hasn’t been even a whisper about Pattinson dropping his film career.

Just another reason not to take cues on Pattinson news from HollywoodLife.

I imagine his fan mailboxes are brimming with pleas to stay in the biz at the moment. These reports are so twisted – only, consistent in one thing – all being total lies. So silly that it’s funny.

Where do all these lies come from?? Everyday it’s something different! Why on earth would he muchless anyone in his shoes quit acting when he is one the most wanted actors right now and is making the bucks… The only thing I read that I really believe to be true is that he and Kristen are in fact a couple. Come on now… They are everywhere together and who would fly across the earth to see someone on their birthday.. They need to just come out and admit they are together. I love them both and think it’s awesome… I dont think it will change how people feel about them. Why do things always have to be secrets??

It’s fun to wonder about – kind of tense and fascinating – sometimes heartbreaking when you consider the pressure and hoping they are personally happy either with each other or someone equally special in spite of all the swirling crazy. I imagine it’s complicated and kind of wrecking: solo careers (them being believable with other co-stars, other movie profits, wanting a career outside of Twiworld, wanting a sense of privacy, actually ever liking someone else, the whole world partaking in your private feelings, splitting fanbases, being or wanting to be authentic and natural).

One thing is for sure. The intense scrutiny kind of dampens the natural flow of their personalities in public appearances. I’m really dismayed by that newer stilted self-consciousness. It’s cruddy to feel repressed. So, I agree with you – let it all hang out if it’s more comfy that way. If it’s not, then don’t. I expect they would be pilloried either way though. Who cares about the rest?

Personally, I’ve flown across the country and an ocean or two to hang out with my special man friends before – especially, when we were close and they were doing stuff in fab places: London, Brazil, NY, Thailand. Relationships ebb and flow. We were platonic mostly – sometimes on and off, and I loved them genuinely – still do. I don’t see anything to read into it on that score. I mean, just being where they were. Despite the jet lag. I know my friends and family – as most of the country, have a more conventional assumption about these things. I know they assumed a lot about it too. We just laughed about it – they never quite got it somehow. People like labels because they are comfortable with them and they save time.

It would be nice though – wouldn’t it? I think Pattinson/Stewart have an inspiring relationship on whatever level they are at (cross fingers it goes horizontal for their sakes – hee). They’re both lucky.

I kind of get the impression that he has a bit more work ethic than that. Hell, I would rather sit at home and work on my hobbies (that do earn me a bit of money) all day long than go to work and earn a larger amount of money, but if nothing else this kid doesn’t seem all that unintelligent about his finances.
If he were to quit acting now he would be forever know at Edward Cullen, or even worse the kid who couldn’t handle being Edward Cullen. He needs to strike while the iron is hot, as he well knows there is hungry kid with an unknown franchise around the corner waiting to knock him off his Teen Beat cover, and bank as much as he can.

If he follows the leads of many a star before him he could spend the next few years doing mega franchises and then settle into a nice quite life of doing a blockbuster and an indie a year and still have time for his music and whatever other interests he has.

As for him and his girlfriend coming out and announcing that they are together, I’m still not sure it’s anyones business and I know for a fact that it’s bad for business. Also some might like to remember that her first relationship didn’t end very well and 80% of that was due to the press being involved in it. I would imagine that being in a relationship where the press left you alone and you were free to be together, and having that end due to the press’ constant speculation over whether or not your co-star was in love with you, might make announcing your present relationship status not high on your priority list.

    Just my two cents.
