The dubious Robert Pattinson interview is a time-honored tradition.

There are those memorable instances when a months-old comment is construed as “new” or an obvious joke as a “revelation.”

Sometimes a magazine will make it sound as though personal subjects never discussed actually were.

Often an interview didn’t happen.

Sometimes Gossip Cop even manages to force publications to remove offending, fabricated quotes.

Now comes an “interview” in Look magazine that seems (mostly) believable… except for the very first question and answer.

“You’ve finally admitted you and Kristen [Stewart] are together,” Look begins. “What’s the secret to winning your heart?”

Replies Pattinson, supposedly, “Money! And an unbelievable amount of patience.”

A couple of things.

First, Pattinson never “admitted” to dating Stewart. We hate to say it over and over, but outlets keep building on top of faulty premises built from reports that were never accurate. Again, this is NOT to say Pattinson and Stewart are or are not a couple.

But this ridiculous habit of treating their personal decisions as matters of public discourse — even after they’ve repeatedly shied away from discussing them — has got to stop.

Which brings us to our second point. While most of Pattinson’s responses in the Look piece seem to be consistent with what he’s said in other places while promoting Remember Me, answering a non-professional Kristen Stewart question with talk about how “money” is a key to his heart just seems… well, completely uncharacteristic.

Pattinson may have given a general answer about what he’s looking for in a woman with the “patience” portion, but it is NOT about Stewart.

And to use “Kristen Needs Patience to Date Me!” as a direct quotation and as the headline is a complete misrepresentation.

Pattinson said no such thing.

It seems like the magazine used a manipulated, highly dubious quote to frame an otherwise run-of-the-mill chat.

Hey Kate, what rag do you work for? Every time there is a post on Gossip Cop you come on here to defend the papz and rags against everything WRONG they do in regards to Robert and Kristen. I’ve never seen anything like it. Now you’re attacking Cleo for telling the truth. These rags need to be stopped. These papz intruding into peoples lives, up trees, in garbage bins, in bushes, in vehicles, racing down the road chasing people who act and sing for a living is ridiculous. For you to come on here time and time again and defend them is just sick.

So, who do you work for? Which rag? Which rag blog site? Why don’t you link us some of your work so we can see what you really do for a living. You are clearly with the rags if not papz yourself. Maybe you’re the idiot who was chasing Rob and Kristen into their hotel in Vancouver. Or maybe in and out of restaurants. Why aren’t you in Hungary chasing Rob in horse drawn carriages?

The rags are sick. Sick in lying on people just to make a buck. They should be stopped. Their advertisers should be protested. Protest is civil believe it or not. I don’t know what country you live in but in America we can protest like Cleo is suggesting and there’s nothing uncivil about it.

This is America, protesting sponsors is what we do. If it can happen to Tiger, it can happen to these rags who go around lying and creating falsehoods about people’s lives. Time to hurt them like they hurt the people they write about.

So fess up Kate, tell us who you really are. Why do yo protect the rags and papz regarding their lies? We’re listening.

When have I ever defended tabloids or papparazzi? Please tell me. You would be hard pressed to find a single post where I extended any grace to the media. In fact, and I am laughing over this, in the post about the release date for “Eclipse”, I expressed annoyance over the media’s fascination with the actors’ personal lives.

Seriously, come closer. Let me spell it out for you. It’s the fans of these actors that create the demand for the coverage of their personal lives. It is the fans who buy the merchandise. The fans are the ones who want to know about their private lives. Average Joe, who has a healthy personal life, who enjoys the movies and thinks so-and-so is cute but doesn’t get all dreamy over him/her, is not the problem. It’s the reality challenged like *cough* who absorb every article, who consult the experts who read body language, who profess to “know” what they are really like, who are the target audience for these blogs and tabloids.

Do I support the paps? No, I think they are parasites. They are self-appointed private DICKS (emphasis mine) who delight in exposing the ugly for public consumption. But what you and Cleo fail to see is that the day people stop buying their crap is the day they are out of a job and not a moment sooner.

Kate: I agree with your points absolutely and praise your logic, rhetoric and composure in responding to Cleo. Rob Pattinson is looking for a committed relationship and his soul mate as of fall 2008. He has not changed-if anything he is more fed up with the b.s. and ridiculous tabloid lies. Never has a star had such an orchestrated effort to libel and slander a star. Even Hardwicke said he was always drunk which is probably pay back for his comments about her erratic director style and numerous amateur mistakes in Twilight (see You Tube). Why are the gossip mongers and rags trying to ruin him? Because he is a decent guy who had the guts to stand up for his beliefs. ENOUGH with the manufactured romantic relationship. They are buddies and know each other well….that is it.. A guy like Rob would never bring this troubled, unhappy, nasty punk home as a serious girlfriend. Kristen has made so many blunders and unprofessional remarks in print, to the fans, press and in interviews that she is on damage control now—right from her first interview on the Twilight set she dropped the f bomb and in several print interviews since. Even New Moon’s director said she has the filthiest mouth out of the entire cast and crew and it was hard to putt bloopers together because of her crude mouth. Kristen said that wild Joan Jett is to be admired and is a role model even though she knows her young fans are listening to her. She dressed trashy NOT trendy on the New Moon tour despite knowing the fan base is mostly young and traditional females. She is clueless and thoughtless. Rob will seem less cool the more he associates himself with Kristen.

Rob has stated repeatedly that the fans are always polite, appreciative and not scary. He said people who read are usually pretty nice. His issue is with the paps that hound him even when off set. He is not able to have a private life right now unless he is insulated from it on set. That is why he announced at the start of New Moon tour that he is going to make his next movies Water, Unbound Captives, Bel Ami, Breaking Dawn without a break in the hopes that it all dies down and he can have his life back. The British are more respectful than the paps in Hollywood, so he will spend most of his time there.

For the record,Rob’s present circumstances don’t allow him to meet girls and being rich and famous also complicates it. When Kristen started looking bad and not at all like a girl in love last year, it became clear what the real 411 was about. Rob has been friends with Camilla Belle since 2007 before he was rich and famous. They have similar values, the same faith, are happy, have character and are well matched. She is sweet, classy and charming. The best part is that she cared about him when he was broke, disheveled and a little lost.
Camilla went out casually with his friend Tom after they made a movie together. Rob is special, sensitive, selective, romantic and is a serious Catholic. Rob mentioned in Japan that he would like to be a young dad. Recently, Camilla seemed very much like a girl in love and was showing her ring to Angie Harmon at a gala fashion event. If Rob is half as wise as he seems, he’ll realize that woman like Camilla don’t fall out of trees everyday, grow up and stop covering for Kristen. Now, to be fair RomanticFool, no body but Rob and Kristen know what their relationship it, and your denial of a romantic relationship being as strong as it is just shows that you want him to be free and single, and are not basing your analysis of their relationship on anything other than your personal feelings towards both of them.

Once again, I don’t CARE if they are dating or not. Now on to the real reason for my post.

Cleo, your original post, and your follow up ones are full of intolerance and hate. When trying for change, it’s best to take a more moderate approach to help create the change that you are after. Most of the world’s population (overall) is moderate, and coming at them with a very extremest approach will cause a majority of the people you are trying to reach to walk away, even if they agree in principal with your message. Like me. I think that the paps and the tabs need to have some sort of controls over them. The way that they go about trying to break up relationships, and cause strife in families offends me, and as such, I don’t buy their products. But, people love it, even as they say it is wrong, or there wouldn’t be so many gossip mags, and there wouldn’t have to be a site like this one to clear up the mistakes that the mags make. So, my point is, if you tone down your message, you may be able to get moderates to join you, and actually be able to create real change. But, if you continue with the hate spewing, you will end up being labeled as a crazy, and as good as your message is, it won’t make it into main stream ideas.

Alayean: Gossip is not my livelihood but I was able to figure things out. This is a cover up for box office sales. The on and off screen romance bull started as soon as the negative pics of her came out. I don’t have anything to gain by who he dates. It is not my opinion, it is his own words and behavior that I go by. The facts are there if people just use critical thinking. I am sick of this guy being slurred and his family being hurt by the lies circulating. He told E that he and Kristen are platonic friends in March of 2009. He stated the same in every print interview in GQ, Vanity Fair, Harper’s and others for the past year. He stated it again before New Moon tour. He said it is unprofessional to date a costar. When asked on the New Moon tour in Spain about what the advantages of being Edward are, Rob said” if you are Edward you get to go out with girls like Kristen Stewart and easily beat up guys like Taylor Lautner”. Why would he say that unless he does not date her and can not beat up Taylor in real life. Why would she make her hostile and strange comment about being with him, not with him or that she is a lesbian? It is called damage control when you have a hostile and controversial leading “star” shooting her mouth off, doing things that are bad for publicity and offending the press and fans right before both premiers.
He also stated that he got obsessed on set while in character and it took him 2 months to get over it once the movie ended. He said he had no idea if had a crush on her in fall 2008 and it was awkward now.
Why does she look so haggard and unhappy if she is in love with him? Why would Rob date sweet young ladies like Nina Schubert and Camilla Belle and then go out with such a troubled and mannish punk like Kristen? Anyone that has listened to him since Harry Potter knows that he is a romantic, shy, moral late bloomer, and wants a nice girl. That rules Kristen out. He said he was one woman man at Italy tour in 2008. He said that he wants to be a young dad and his faith is important to him. Kristen is not the kind of girl you would want to raise your hamster let alone child. The photos are all over the net of her cuddling, holding hands and kissing Nikki and the You Tube videos of her at Sundance Film Festival after party and interviews with Dakota. KateWinterman: I realize how I come off. I am a big supporter of Rob and all the lies and rumors are really detracting from his acting and public persona. It has turned off a lot of people. Many sites have comments indicating that the fans believe the crud on him out there. The thought of him with Kristen is like Lindsey Lohan dating Taylor Lautner….odd. I also don’t understand why at last a few stars like Taylor Swift and Rob talk about their morals and faith and they are publicly destroyed. There is a big anti-religious/conservative movement and that would explain why Rob has been so viciously and relentlessly attacked. There are really shocking stories about him on blogs and sites that are just so vile and unfounded that you know it is because they want to knock him off the pedestal or have been hired to hurt him in order to hurt Summit. Summit is a little start up that invested 12 million and got 400 million thanks in large part to the fans falling in love with Rob while he toured the malls, radio and on talk shows.

My main reason for putting the videos on one page on the link above and my opinion was to stop the character assignation of Robert by the tabloids and the unfounded rumors. I think that it has affected his image, hurt his family and turned off many fans. Most people don’t like man whores and cads. He is not what the say he is. Many people wonder how he could possibly be romantic over someone as butch and strange as Kristen (I know she can look nice and she obviously cares for him) . In the interview she did at Sundance with Dakota she all but drew a picture that she is gay. Many gay sites have been saying it for ages. I often see interviews about him that add words to change meaning. For example, we are here together (BAFTAS) becomes we are together. His old girlfriend Nina said “we lived in London” and it was changed to we lived together in London by some blogs. Rob and Kristen are good friends like they say. They watch out for each other.

Nobody seems to have an issue with her coming on to Rob when she had a long term boyfriend (assuming he was not a beard). Nobody thinks it horrible that she acted straight to get Rob interested and only showed the real her last year after he he told her that he had someone else or did not feel more than friendship towards her. Her sudden change in looks and new strained but awkward body language with him would indicate that is what happened. Kristen said at start of New Moon tour on Access Hollywood, “who ever he ends up with” “if you like intellectual wishy washy guys” when asked about whether Rob and Taylor would make good husbands and “I know how it feels to be broken up and be so sure about something and told I was dead wrong” .

One last question ..if Rob said he was gay, people would not question it. They would take him at his word and not attack him. What is up with the double standard? It’s ok to be a man whore, slut, druggie, devil worshiper but God forbid you attend mass and are waiting to fall in love and get married because that is how you were raised and what you personally belief. Why are Christians fair game but the same gossip mongers and left in Hollywood would never accuse a star that is Muslim of secretly being gay, a womanizer, eating pork and drinking.

Rob said he believes in the teachings of his church (Christians are supposed to promote the teachings of their church—not support gay marriage instead of civil unions, not support killing the unborn, not sleep around, not use bad language and to have manners and be kind). He says he is romantic, moral and celibate and suddenly the tabloids go into crazed over-drive 24/7 on the poor kid. WHY??? The left hates people with morals, principles and class. It messes up their agenda.. The paparazzi torment him and ask if he is praying, if he is doing Kristen and how it feels to be a father to be. What a twisted world when being nice puts a target on your back. No wonder Camilla, Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner keep their mouths closed, go out seldom and have pretty boring lives. The very fact that these people are not dating and/or single shows what a messed up society we have.
