Robert Pattinson NOT Set to Play Kurt Cobain

Is Robert Pattinson going from fanging to head banging?

The Sun raised eyebrows EVERYWHERE this morning with a report that Pattinson “has landed his dream film role — playing Kurt Cobain in a Hollywood biopic.” Noting that Pattinson “has always thought of himself as a musician rather than an actor,” the paper says “securing a part” as the late Cobain “is ideal for the pin-up.”

A hero of the grunge rock scene with Nirvana, Cobain killed himself in 1994.

According to the Sun story, Pattinson was so determined to play the part, he vigorously lobbied Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love, who supposedly wants Scarlett Johansson to portray her in the project.

The paper’s “source” claims Pattinson “has been calling and emailing [Love] non-stop,” and that he is “her number one choice to play Kurt.”

So did the Sun score a big casting scoop?

Not to be “curt,” but no.

The rumor is just plain wrong. A source close to Pattinson tells Gossip Cop there is “no accuracy” to today’s report.

Nevermind.

Pattinson (you even spelt it wrong) HAS an acting career outside of theTwilight franchise, and his latest film, Remember Me, got excellent reviews. Also, Kristen Stewart has been praised for her excellent acting, attitude and dedication. Stop being so narrow-minded. YOU are the one refusing to look past the Twilight franchise fall-out.     But, I’m happy to say I’m glad this story is not true. I think Rob is a good actor and will tackle anything he puts his hands on….But, this movie is a fail before the ink is on the paper. Or, however the saying goes.

    Now, when it is up to Robert playing Kurt Cobain… First, yes I’d love to see this biopic: I really liked Nirvana… REALLY liked it… :)… Now, whether I’d like Robert to play Kurt?… Don’t think so… I just don’t see him like that… but if he would eventually want to… no problem, still would watch the movie…
    Scarlett Johansson portraying Courtney Love?.. No waaaaaaaaaay… They better cast it more… well, more… like similar… I don’t think they really resemble… jmo…
    Anyway, not accurate… let’s see what happens with this biopic…

    Wendy, I agree with Amy, you might want to do your own homework. Have you actually seen any of his other movies….Haunted Airman, Dark Kingdom-Dragon King, Bad Mothers Handbook, How to Be, Little Ashes, Remember Me?

    Good Grief, He is funny when he has to be, serious when he has to be and brooding when he has to be.

    Don’t misunderstand, I loved Nirvana but why do a biopic on a washed up drug addict that did not have the discipline to pick himself up and clean him self off and be a real father.

Why would the worlds biggest franchised actor play him? Wouldn’t that be a big huge No-No? Robert Pattinson is everything Cobain was against.

    I disagree about suicide being cowardly. One cannot draw upon strength that one does not have, If you can’t fathom that level of despair, than you have never stood in those shoes. There’s not a shred of hope left when someone truly comes to that conclusion. I have seen people at this point and I’ve concluded that it is a humbling thing to witness.

    That said, I couldn’t care less about Cobain. I’m running out of Diet Pepsi, Mag stole half my popcorn and Cleo failed to deliver ‘teh crazy’. This isn’t working for me, people. CHOP CHOP!!

    TOTALLY agree with Kate!… Facing death to be inflicted by own hands IS the hardest sh*t EVER!… People who consider suicide have completely lost hope of any kind, in any way… Even if they might have around people who loves them, the dark place where they are is in no way lighter because of that…
    Kurt, and only Kurt… not even his family, know all the things he was going through… and the reasons why he thought it was best to end that way…

    Where the hell did you come up with that one? Kurt was murdered? HE KILLED HIMSELF!!! He was a drug addicted, alcoholic, solvent abusing, heroin addict who killed himself and left his suicide note to his IMAGINARY friend. He had attention deficit disorder as a child and was bi-polar as an adult. It’s almost as if he was the DEFINITION OF LOSER! That aside, Nirvana was great but Wendy is obviously delusional.

    Boo. Courtney Love must be feeling sidelined in relevance or shy of royalty cash these days.

    I’m from the PacNW and was a Nirvana fan (among others), ran a fanzine and was invloved in 80s and 90s Portland/Seattle music way before the grunge hype and Courtney Love were on the scene. Kurt’s death was really controversial and it’s a personally painful topic for many. I wouldn’t be entertained by a movie about it. Maybe in another decade – with profits going to charity. No, no I dunno.

    It’s just a distasteful movie idea to me. Propaganda – profit. Yuck. I’ll go out on a limb and say Love producing a movie about it really doesn’t gel with my idea of the Cobain spirit.

    LOL Kate!!! I was surprised that the crazy was missing too.

    But as far as this Pattison/Cobain thing, I am very glad that the story is inaccurate. I would hate to miss a movie about someone who was such a big part in influencing the music I listened to growing up just because I can’t stand the way the lead actor looks. If this is the type of guy the Tweens go for, I just don’t get the attraction.

    First of all, Kurt Cobain’s death was controversial and thus it isn’t exactly sure whether or not he commited suicide or was indeed murdered!
    He is NOT the “definiftion of loser”, he was one of the most influential and artisticly talent singer/songwriters of our time (and is still considered to be so).
    So SYLVIE SMITH — maybe you should look into it more before you say something ignorate.
    Robert Pattinson might be an actor but that doesn’t mean he is exceptionally good at it! And its sad that he was recognized and achieved “stardom” through Twilight; which is one of his more poorly acted films.
    The franchise is fed by teenage girl’s delluded interpretation of a book that is horribly represented on screen but they don’t care because they are obsessed with the characters and as long as they are brought to screen they don’t give three sh’ts if it turns out “good”.
    Well, some of us care what they do to books, bands, and real people when they get turned into a Media Profit. If we are going to pay to see a biopic about someone we truly admire than some of us want it done right. And I think I speak for those who are true fans of Nirvana and Kurt Cobain — It would be unforgivable if you gave the role to Robert F’cking Pattinson.

    For one if any of you would have paid attetntion over the years you would know that Kurt was murdered and Courtney is the one that did it or at least paid some one to do it. go read the investigation of Tom Grant and you will see. as for Rob to portray Kurt in a movie I don’t think so. He doesn’t fit the part. you need some one with that look like and Rob just doesn’t have it. Kurt was a grunge god that foever changed the face of music. It such a same that he was taken too soon from us by that greedy wife of his. As for scarlet Johansan playing her pelase, courteny deserves to have a nasty prostitute to portray her. I know Kurt had his issues with drugs and he had serious health problem especially with his stomach but he did not kill himself. His so called suicide note was a letter to all of his fans that he was leaving Nirvana for good. The message on the bottom to his daughter wasn’t even his writing. With all due respect to Rob he’s just not cut out for the part of Kurt Cobain.
