Daniel Craig Wants Robert Pattinson As Next James Bond?

Is Robert Pattinson set to be the next James Bond?

OK! set the rumor in motion this week, implying that the spy franchise’s current star Daniel Craig has endorsed the Twilight actor as his replacement.

“Sources” tell the tabloid the “heartthrobs clicked” when they met at a recent party, and that Craig “said he’d like the 26-year-old screen vampire to succeed him as Agent 007.”

“Daniel told Rob he’d make a brilliant Bond and would like to see a young talented British actor take on the role,” explains an OK! insider. “Daniel’s signed on for two more Bond movies but is convinced he’ll do no more — for one thing, he hopes to start a family with [wife Rachel Weisz] soon… and wants to focus on that.”

The tab’s source says Pattinson told Craig he’s a big fan, but was “completely taken aback when the compliments were returned!”

According to OK!, Craig “thinks Rob’s Bond-ready right now.”

Wow.

So is the Skyfall star really handpicking Pattinson to succeed him already?

No.

While any number of young actors — including Pattinson — could some day wind up as the next 007, the tab’s story about Craig voicing a preference is completely off base.

OK! feels safe making proclamations about the next James Bond knowing there are still years left before Craig leaves and the role actually opens up.

But the mag does not have any insight into the matter.

A source close to Craig tells Gossip Cop there’s no truth to the OK! report.

I will have to say that while Rob is a good actor,but he is just not able to pull off an action movie he is really to awkward and he has even talked about it himself in some interviews.Daniel Craig did just about all the stunts himself in SkyFall which really shocked me but ET was showing him behind the scenes doing them and alot of it was to keep within the movies budget.Physically I just don’t ever see Rob being able to take on such demands it would require.js

Sorry I have to disagree. Bond is supposed to be tough and dangerous, yet classy and elegant, when needed, but I have a hard time to picture Robert as tough and dangerous.

Daniel Craig is the best Bond ever in my opinion. He’s a much darker and charismatic Bond, than the vimp’s (except Connery of course) that had the role before him. He’s much like Connery, just more.. hmm.. “dark” if you know what I mean, and no offence, but I don’t think Pattinson has that kind of charisma.

not sure how many of you remember when Hugh Jackman got cast as wolverine. Everyone said the same thing. He is a singer, too skinny, not tall enough, can’t pull it off. No actually Hugh Jackman was actually able to do a fantastic job as wolverine because he has a certain ruggedness and quality and he fit the role perfectly even down to resembleing the X-men comic book persona.Hugh is just multi-talented and able to pull off mostly action roles imo.

.I remember watching a YouTube interview with Rob quite a while ago (sorry, no details) and the interviewer asked him about playing James Bond. Rob said that he would love to, but not for quite some time (I think he said 20 years!). With the interesting, challenging and diverse roles he has chosen for his projects after Twilight, he seems determined to improve his acting skills and break out of the “Edward” mold. He certainy has the looks, charm and charisma to play James Bond. But I do agree with him on the timing – not in the near future, but certainlly 15 or 20 years down the road. He was fantastic in Cosmopolis, and I’m excited to see what his talent brings to the cinema in the next year and beyond.

I’ve always thought he’d make a great Robert Burns. Burns was Scotland’s great national poet and songwriter. He played guitar and sang. His work is witty and sardonic and sometimes heartbreaking. In real life, he was –dare I say this–even handsomer than Rob, and his portraits show a look of mischief such as you sometimes see on Rob. Women loved him, and his life included a great love affair. I don’t think women should be able to choose the actors of movies I like just as I don’t think I should be able to choose the actors for chick flicks. If Robert Pattinson gets the James Bond role, I think we should start casting people like Steve Buscemi as the dreamy guy that all the girls want to get with in future movies like Twilight!!!

I pity any actor who follows Craig as James Bond. I don’t find Pattinson attractive at all. Craig has rugged good looks, but can polish up quite nicely and be sophisticated. He is intense, athletic and believable as Bond. He is very sexy. OMG! If you are a woman you know what I mean. If you have seen him in other roles, you note what a good actor he is. He brings something different to each role and really gets into character. He has unbelievable presence, whether in a movie or at a talk show promoting a film. He is very witty and quick. He is the whole package! The only two actors I have ever liked in the Bond role are Connery and Craig and I prefer Craig.
