Robert Pattinson’s “Idol’s Eye” To Shoot Next Year With Sylvester Stallone
As Gossip Cop has reported, Pattinson was attached to star in the film in 2014. The actor was cast as a thief who unwittingly robs a mob boss, who was set to be played by De Niro. Pattinson traveled to Toronto in October of that year in anticipation of filming.
But in early November, actually exactly two years ago today, the plug was pulled on the production. At the time, Gossip Cop exclusively learned the Idol’s Eye shoot had been canceled due to financing issues. We were told in a statement, “Due to the criteria for financing not being met by producers, Benaroya Pictures has formally decided to discontinue financing the motion picture titled IDOL’S EYE. The company cannot continue to put its investment at risk and has been forced to stop cash flowing the production.”
The company said, however, that it planned to “retain the rights of the film and move forward with production on the picture after we generate a revised script and assemble a new filmmaking team.” Now, after all this time, it was revealed at the American Film Market conference that the film is back on with Benaroya again producing. And while director Olivier Assayas and cast member Rachel Weisz are still on board, De Niro has been replaced by Stallone.
The shoot is now slated to take place in early 2017, again in Toronto. Gossip Cop will continue to have updates on the project.
