Busting bad dish!

Outlets Won’t Respect Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s Personal Space

(GettyImages.com)

Over the weekend we ran a story highlighting an incident in which paparazzi weaved through Los Angeles traffic in pursuit of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. The actors received assistance from police before anyone was hurt.

But the chase again brought to the forefront how an intense tabloid culture sometimes crosses the line into dangerous or invasive behavior.

We’re reminded of that boundary today, as the gang over at HollywoodLife decided to breathe new life into rumors about Pattinson and Stewart’s supposed secret “love nest” — complete with a photo.

The site observes that Pattinson and Stewart are “intensely private people,” which is why “they’d choose a spot in the middle of nowhere.”

And then, without a hint of irony, HollywoodLife prints its “EXCLUSIVE!” report about the house they allege Pattinson and Stewart want to keep secret.

A “source” for the site dishes about the “huge gate, barbed wire and about 5 security cameras” near one entrance of the house, which is described as being “like a fortress.” And HollywoodLife includes a snapshot for anyone who wants a stronger visual.

Whether or not it’s a house Pattinson and Stewart share is no one’s business. We are not going to link to the HollywoodLife story.

Go to any newsstand and pick up titles like InStyle or Architectural Digest — or even some of the tabs we cover here each week. Celebrities who want to invite cameras to their homes have endless opportunities.

But public figures are entitled to privacy. And if Pattinson, Stewart, or anyone else needs a place to escape the glare of the lens, it should be possible to do so without bird’s eye photographs emerging, first in magazines like Life & Style, which printed the photos last week, and then on sites like HollywoodLife, which can’t leave bad enough alone.

  • Samantha

So lemme get this straight … these two publicly went through TWO airports in TWO countries with a POSSE of bodyguards, didn’t take VIP exits or entrances … and then drove THEMSELVES home with no security or bodyguards or drivers in the car? And then they were SOOOO hounded that the helpless things had to stop at a police station for assistance, yet there isn’t a single photo of them at a police station, despite the ravenous horde of paparazzi determined to take their photos from whom they were trying to escape? Um, this whole story is bogus. Side note: GROW UP. Don’t refuse to kiss at the MTV Awards, refuse to admit you’re in a relationship, wear matchy teenage string bracelets, share each other’s clothes and then get annoyed when people have the audacity to wonder if you’re in a relationship. Zillions of celebrities, including teenagers, are proudly in public relationships and manage to have a life and some privacy. Posers and immature adolescents play games. Pretty obvious which camp these two are in.

  • crmomof2

It was prudent of them to go to the police station rather than compete with paparazzi. The point of that article was the dangerous situation that the celebrities and the innocent bystanders are put in because of the predatory paparazzi. Quite frankly, I don’t understand why people feel that they have the right to know everything about a celebrity. People don’t just wonder, they hunt and attack these people. If the house is indeed Pattison’s and Stewart’s…it’s really intrusive. It’s one thing when they are in public but even the most public person has the right to privacy in their own home.

  • MissZee

ya know..totally random but he looks nice in that suit. i like the color

  • kristlwrd

i won’t believe that the “supposed secret love nest” is their real house that their stays now.. Hahh itz like omygod! Really??? Where’s the ABSOLUTE PROOF?!
Well just leave them alone guys. .. Dont buy those bullsshitd tabloids!! Nd dont believe any rumours(HOAX) bout them easily….

    Thankz GC.. ^_^

Oh Samantha, youre sounding a bit touched in the head with your rant. These people are not obligated to flaunt their relationship in public for your obsessive need to be a voyuer. The point of the article is that paps and rabid fans cross the line. Thinking they are entitled to invade someone elses privacy. Laws should be made to stop paps from pursuing celebs in vehicles. Also from camping out in front of their houses. The idea of putting photo bounties on celebs is irresponsible. I pray we dont wake up one day to news of a celeb and/or those who happen to be in the area were killed because of stalking paps chasing a bounty.
Samantha, get help. You sound extremely bitter, jealous, and way to emotionally invested in people you dont know.

  • MissZee

i’ll admit i was CURIOUS to see what this house looked like, and i’m jealous, I want that house just because it looks amazing lol…but it’s bad that people are going as low as camping out to find out where they live…

When he was in NYC, i think filming for Remember Me, I read that Rob had to move like 3 times to different hotels because fans/paps were finding him

OMG! This is really dumb and stupid for HollywoodLife to print report about the house of Robsten.
Do these people know what means “Respect their personal space and privacy”? I don’t think so. This is so dumb.
No matter if this is their house or not, it must be secret and no one to care or bother them.
This should be a place where they can be together and alone, without anyone harassing them and shot them.
I have nothing more to say. I am very disgusted. Thanks Gossip Cop, for all of this. Thanks for telling me/ :)
