What does SWATH’s box office numbers have to do with Rob’s career? Most director’s don’t give a shit if their movie is fresh on a site like Rotton Tomato’s, they care about what happens at the box office. SWATH still has many weeks of being in theatres so you should save your how much it’s earned comment for when the final numbers are calculated. SWATH has been huge success and proved that Kristen has box office draw. You have no clue as what projects Kristen has. Everyone was saying Rob was doing nothing, only to learn that he had been working on deals for a while. Kristen is getting to ready to start casting for Cali, and it’s looking like SWATH will have a sequel.

Most of Rob’s new film projects are still in the development and financing stages, and there is quite a bit of legit buzz that some of his new films will not happen. Regardless of any critic review good or bad Bel-Ami and Cosmopolis have been box office duds. While Rob has a large fanbase, his movies don’t pack the theatres.

Plus don’t forget that Bel Ami was released in the US on Video On Demand for five weeks before it was in theaters (very few of them BTW). Why aren’t they counting the number of times it was viewed on that. I know lots of people that watched it and liked it. What is with this vendetta against Rob by UK papers. Is it because he moved to the US? The Hollywood vendetta is understandable because they think he didn’t pay his dues to be such a sensation. But hey, that is Hollywood. You would think that the UK would be proud of him. Of course he probably doesn’t care as he laughs all the way to the bank with his millions of dollars and lives his California dream life!

And Cosmopolis hasn’t even opened in the biggest market, the US, so it’s premature to call it a dud It’s an R rated indie, not a PG-13 pop corn movie. Only an idiot would expect it to be doing billions at the box office right now, it’s in limited release. Bel Ami was a period drama, and R rated. Those don’t exactly draw massive audiences, ever. When VOD and DVD sales are counted, it will be in the black.

I think it’s a shame that the media plays Rob and Kristen against each other. Rob and Kristen are two of the most humble actors around, and they both are praised by their peers and others in Hollywood for their strong work ethic. I stay away from sites like Rotten Tomato’s because a great portion of the reviews are based on people’s personal like or dislike for an actor and not the quality of their acting or the film. It’s not just Rob and Kristen’s movies that happens to. I don’t have an issue with negative reviews that are tastefully done and are about the film. There is nothing wrong with a critic stating that they did not like Kristen or Robs acting in a movie. That is their opinion. It’s the critics that take jabs at Kristen or Rob on a personal level, that has nothing to do with the film.

Fan of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Together or separate I’m a huge fan of both. These two are unique and seem to have beautiful hearts, great family, friends and so far a great life together. I wish them both nothing but love and happiness for the rest of their lives.

“he`s mediocre” – he is only fucking 26 years old. What do you expect? He is in the process of learning. Everybody in any job is normally mediocre at the age of 26. You only mature with age and at the age of 40 you finally know what you want. (I know what I am talking about ;-) If he keeps going like that, with the obvious determination and physical and mental strength that he has, he will still stick around when his good looks might decline – something that I actually don’t believe will happen. Look at Cruise, DiCaprio, Brosnan, Deppetc. They all still look gorgeous even at a much older age. People still think they are sexy. Many man in fact get more attractive with age.

I think that Rob will surprise us in the future.

But even if he doesn’t, even if his career should fail, even if people will never give him that credibility he aspires, even if he will eventually do something completely different: What I wish for him the most is that he will be happy with whatever he does.

None of the films are packing the theatres with the exception of big franchises with huge production budgets and huge promotion budgets. Even Green Lantern fizzled. The small indie films that can be regarded as art do not make money. The small films that are well done but not exceptional don’t do well at the BO. Everything in the US having to do with business is undergoing massive structural change. Things are not going to go back to the way they were. Ever.

Serious films will continue to be made by people who are making them out of love. The filmmakers making films for profit are up against the wall. Fox Searchlight did Brit Marling’s Sound Of My Voice, so they are distributing films that will have a very long life, but will never be huge BO hits. They will continue to provide a cash stream for years and years. A small cash stream, but when you have thousands of them, that stream starts to look pretty good. This is the wave of the future. Deal with it.

I always prefer seeing a movie in the theatre. But the selection is decreasing all the time. My independent theatre is non-profit, relies on donations, grants, and fund raising. I sometimes watch a movie with only 5r other people in the the theatre. Film clubs at universities take up the slack. and my discount multi plex has a manager who senses the wave of the future and is starting to go against the suits there to show art films. He is getting ready. I have talked with him, and he knows that the future audience has to be seduced with these films, that they have to learn to enjoy them, that they are not popcorn flicks. The big popcorn flicks will continue until they don’t work anymore. they will saturate themselves out of business. Although I am reading interesting reviews of the comic and sci fi franchises that I find compelling.

My thoughts on this are that Rob is too eager to please these suits he thinks know more than he does about acting. Clearly now we know Donnellan and Ormerod do not. Cronenberg definitely doesn’t. He has the name, but it is tarnished badly over Cosmopolis and he deserves the trashing he got. It wasn’t enuf IMO.

The question is, is he willing to go the route that Brit Marling, Cahill, and Zal are taking. Absolute gems, very low budget. There are some major ones out there that are dazzling, far better than Cosmopolis, SWATH, WFE, etc. Written, acted, produced and directed by themselves. If Rob Pattinson gets these women into considering good books and small indie movies, he will have done a great service for them. No pun intended.

Depp is not choosing well. Cruise can’t choose well as his past choices are no longer in and trendy. Leo chooses well. Joli doesn’t anymore but I think her focus is on her family and now directing.

snow white is a mixture of many things. it’s a fantasy movie, those usually do pretty well. now snow white is a modest hit, but it’s not a flop. neither rob nor kristen have made mainstream flops. their indies are arthouse indies, and those 9 times out of 10 don’t make bank. as for rob, so far the only movies he has signed up for post twilight are indie films. he seemed very excited about starting that mission movie, and the rover. those films aren’t going to make bank either. the media will be on him, until he takes the easy way and picks a super hero, fantasy, or some nicholas sparks movie. right now though, he seems to want to focus on indies/art house films.

Because people like to downplay the threats and hate against Kristen. The verbal abuse, threats, and stalking have been done to Kristen since Twilight started. I met Robpatz last year while attending a press conference in Brussels. I was very close and I can say, that he isn’t what you can say a smart guy. So I don’t understand why girls appreciate. As movie reporter and bloger, I watch movies before they go in theater, and talk with journalists friends……They aren’t nice with his actors skills…I saw. Water for……Bel Ami….and Metropolis, none of these worked here. Very very bad review for the last one…..He may say thanks to the Twilight saga….where with less words he wasn’t that bad….Really, he isn’t a good actor but still gain popularity because the franchise. I don’t understand why it is important to bash Robert and Kristen on a daily basis? Personally, I have enjoyed all of their movies and find critics writing bs to justify their jobs. Movies are suppose to entertain people, are they not? Their careers are not based on blogs or media outlets but on the fans who watch their movies. Watch their movies , encourage them when you can, and lets all stay away from the media spots with screaming critical headlines and trash talk that goes no where. And who cares how they will look in 10 to 20 years because eventually, hopefully, they will just get old. I like the comment about each being just happy with their life, period.

Exactly. Cronenberg has helped Pattinson a lot. The movie (and the book too) is highbrow and difficult, but absolutely brilliant at the same time. It was a very tough part to play but Pattinson was brave enough to take it and did an excellent job. He is flawless as Packer. I am a huge fan of the book, and believe me people, I had read several dozen reviews of the movie before I went to see it and Pattinson’s performance was highly praised in about 80% of them, even if the movie itself was not that well received. Anyway, it’s Cronenberg and DeLillo: love it or hate it, but you can’t deny how good they are in what they do.
