Busting bad dish!

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Photo Bounty is Worthless Journalism

COMMENTARY

(GettyImages.com)

By almost every measure, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart live charmed lives. They have successful film careers, adoring fans, youth, talent, wealth, and good health.

There is not much either one “needs.”

Except the same respect and decency afforded everyone else.

They don’t need bigger targets on their backs. They don’t need to be prey.

Which is what makes this just plain wrong.

Really wrong.

It’s an offer of money for a photograph of Pattinson and Stewart together in London.

The request to stay within the bounds of legality is immaterial. Offering cash for invasion of privacy is just plan wrong.

It doesn’t matter whether Pattinson and Stewart are “getting cozy” or miles apart, dating or not dating, filming or not filming, in London or New York or Los Angeles or Vancouver.

It’s wrong.

This isn’t good-natured celebrity worship. It isn’t crowd-sourced journalism. This is not a fun little “mission,” as the site puts it. It isn’t “happy snapping.”

It’s harassment.

We get it. A person who derives his or her privilege from celebrity will have to make certain concessions. Red carpets, photo shoots, talk show appearances… these are all part of the deal.

Bounties are not.

We have nothing against Showbiz Spy. It isn’t the first outlet to make this type of offer. It won’t be the last.

But at some point, enough is enough.

Gossip Cop has a lot of visitors who care about Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, and many who do not. There are those interested in whether they date, and there are those who care only about their films.

But the overwhelming majority agree: Hunting them down — hunting anyone down — is wrong.

If you want to be vocal, be as clear as you have been in the past. But don’t flood the site with vitriol and ugliness.

You can be passionate but also respectful at the same time.

The sooner media outlets understand that most fans think celebrities deserve the same treatment as the person next to them, the faster we can undermine “prey for pay.”

Disgusting. If I ever thought about reading Showbiz Spy, this is a guarantee I’ll NEVER look at it. I wish just once someone could turn the tables on the paps—-follow them around everywhere, hound them unmercifully, and then tell them it “goes with the turf.” I won’t be clicking on Showbiz Spy at all. Ever. Putting a bounty on people who are just doing a job like everyone else—-albeit a very visible job—is totally unacceptable behavior.

  • OhOh

    Disgusting, simply disgusting!
This is far beyond “crossing the line”.
    It’s just… disgusting.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Judy-Adams-Pelzer/732401046 Judy Adams Pelzer

A bounty on people is just wrong. No matter who or how you look at it, it is wrong! I, for one, would love to know if Robert & Kristen are happy with each other and/or together. But not at their expense. If they would just admit to the world they were together as a couple, they would be left alone pretty much. No more suspense! No more wondering! But they are both SUPER STARS right now and whatever they do or wherever they go, they are going to draw attention. But at least everyone would know already they are a couple which would send people looking elsewhere for that mystery!

I agree with you gossip cop!! This is lame and plain wrong!!! I love Rob and Kristen and I do care about whether they are dating or not but this this goes beyond the line!!!!!! I know my limits and showbiz spy is going to far!!

  • cheermom

Way to go Gossip Cop! This is just sick and wrong! Leave these two alone and let them live their lives without psychos stalking them for a photo. I just feel terrible for this two. Showbiz Spy — YOU SUCK!!! Go Rob and Kris!!!

  • ariagirl

This is just heinous. And the world at large wonders why these two kids can’t/won’t go public…would it make a difference? I realize there is a need for journalism, but not this trash. Imagine if you couldn’t go into a Supermarket or a Post Office. Well, that’s their life these days. I’m sure they know that because of their profession a certain amount of coverage is warranted. But not these stalker like packs of photographers. They have stalker laws, why can’t they be enacted for these two? Are they just supposed to take this because they are celebrities? They are still human beings and someone’s child, brother, sister, daughter and son. Shame on all these hounding people. Boo to the people who think it’s their right to torture these two kids and ask them the most personal questions. To all of you/them: GIVE IT A REST!

  • Bullett

Part of me, a big part of me, wants to adopt what I know will easily be the most popular, and self-righteous, position here on this issue. But actually (and at the risk of what may well be an ensuing attack), I’m not really so down on this development for two distinct reasons.

First, what’s the difference between this offer by Show Biz Spy and what any paparazzi do for a living? It’s not as if people are “licensed” pap’s and have some special “training” to do what they do. They’re people with cameras that earn a living hounding celebrities, taking their pics, and selling them or at least trying to. So what’s so terrible if someone that isn’t a pro winds up taking a picture that people would be interested in, and makes a few bucks for it? Where’s the crime? Unless your’re suggesting that all paparazzi be banned (which might not be such a bad idea) what’s so heinous? If you’re not suggesting a complete ban on the paps, then there might be a decent argument for saying it’s hypocritical to make Show Biz Spy out as being so awful to offer non-pro’s compensation for pics. Would it have been so awful had that little girl that took pics of Robsten at xmas in the U.K. received a few dollars for those photos along with the notoriety she achieved? Would you call her a bounty hunter?

The second reason is more specific and personal. Years ago, quite by accident I came upon what I knew would be a major story involving an American Idol contestant. Nothing like that had ever happened to me before, and I had no involvement with the media, or gossip columns, or anything with that type of business. At the time I was living in major poverty, I mean really destitute. I didn’t want an involvement with that sort of business, in fact I thought the idea of attempting to capitalize on the info I had fallen into would be sleazy. But I also recognized there could be money in it, and again was so poor at the time that I decided to give it a go. I contacted what is inarguably the most major media outlet for gossip in the U.S. Well, to make a long story short, I wound up totally getting ripped off for the story, and this major media conglomerate took the story, sold alot of magazines with it, and I never saw a penny. I probably got what I deserved, because as I said, I knew that for me at least this wasn’t a morally sound endeavor. But at the same time, I don’t think it’s right when a big company rips off people that have provided them with valuable material. One thing I learned after that was that all of these websites and magazines that ask the public for leads aren’t very clear or forthright about also telling people that they won’t pay a penny for those leads or information once they have it in their hands. So, my point is that at least with Show Biz Spy they’re making an upfront offer that’s clear and presumably reliable. Maybe there’s a positive aspect to that.

Anyway, sorry to go on so long, but if I’m going to get hammered for an unpopular position, I might as well at least make that position as clear as I can. I’m not saying we should encourage “open hunting season” on celebrities by any member of the public that feels so inclined, but maybe offering a clear reward for mateial of value isn’t so terrible either.

WHEN IS ENOUGH – ENOUGH?!!! I’m just speechless. This is so gross and disgusting. Between Perez Hilton spewing his hatred for Kristen ( who is such a shy sweetheart ) on daily basis just because he has this delusion that Rob wants to be with him and the sleezy papz from TMZ and Show Biz Spy etc…now does this show the world why Rob and Kristen will not admit they are together, walk another red carpet together, sit separate at press conferences when they can? This is because of flees like ShowBiz Spy. A BOUNT?!! My stomach is churning. I ask again…when is enough enough? The horrible thing about this is that both of them are actually shy and are not into the “stardom” thing. They only just want to act and in Rob’s case maybe one day make an album. His love for open mics have totally been taken away from him because of YouTube. He just can’t go to a pub, pull out his guitar and just sing and play anymore. Just being an artist performing for the audience in front of him…intimacy and not for the whole world to see. Kristen is only 19 years old. She’s no Lindsey Lohan, or Miley Cirus or Taylor Swift and she doesn’t want to be. She likes her indie movies (which Twilight was) and just acting for the love of acting. Rob’s the same way. They are both artists. They both love the fans and the fans love them. That’s why we feel protective of them. We want them to be safe and happy. We want to see all of the their work and not just the Twilight movies. We love them because they keep it real…they are just like us and don’t try to be something they aren’t. They don’t buy into the Hollywood fakes and sell outs. That’s what makes them different than the rest of the camera hungry , papz seeking…psuedo actors calling themselves stars a la The Kardashians & the Paris Hiltons of the world. The are poets, pure…simple…artists. Unblemished by the sleezy Hollywood ways. Let them be free to be themselves. Please leave them alone. Money is the root of all evil. Whomever, if the ever, get that picture, I hope the world comes down hard not only on the company who publishes it (their sponsors and advertisers) but on the person who took the picture and any other blog that publishes it as well as their advertisers and sponsors as well. It’s time for the fans and people who hate the sleezy ways of the papz to draw a line in the sand and say “We’ve had enough”.

  • dancer1

Sorry folks for some grammatical and spelling errors but this story has upset me so and I was thinking my thoughts faster than I can type them LOL! But you get my point…time to start boycotting the sleezy papz and bloggers along with the advertisers who support them.

  • dancer1

Bullet I understand what you are saying but I have to disagree. There is a time and place for everything. If they are out doing promotions for their films, fine…take all the pics you want. But taking a picture of a 17 year old girl pumping gas being surrounded by strange men snapping pictures of her is not part of some “clean” business…is perversion! She was scared to death being surrounded by strange grown a$$ men snapping pictures of her. Now that she starred in a blockbuster movie which was supposed to be a small indie film, how does that give you the right to follow her to her home, camp out, follow her to gas stations and to business meetings, follow her to restaurants just to take a picture of her on her private time and not having anything to do with her acting or the film she’s in? How is that right? People have the right to privacy. I’m with Tiger Woods when he told the press to back off his child. Children are innocent and no fool has the right to follow a 2year old to her school and take pictures of her especially when she’s not a public figure! No papz should be following anyone around taking pictures of their personal lives. When I clock out at work, my boss better not call me at home asking me anything about work. It had better be about a paycheck and that’s it. I feel people like you try to give yourselves some type of justifiable reason to harass people just because you want money. People have a right to go out to eat and not be harassed by someone taking a picture of them. They should be able to walk in a park in peace without being scared of being hunted by fools with cameras. I could see if they were like the Hollywood types that hung out at all of the hot spots and went to places hoping the papz would put them in their mags but they go out of their way to try to have some privacy together and you fools will not leave the alone. Again, I say, when is enough enough? Leave them alone.

Now it’s time the fans and people who care about privacy rights begin to stop the flow of money to the sleazy papz who harass the entertainers by invading their privacy. It’s time to start boycotting advertisers and sponsor of their magazines and blogs. It’s time to take a stand. I want it to begin with SBSpy and the papz who dares to take the pic and publish it of Rob and Kristen together in England. Like you articulated earlier, it hurts when someone starts to take your money from you….money talks. It’s time the the advertisers learn a hard lesson for supporting the sleaze.

    Showbizspy is Disgusting

  • KateWinterman

Are the people who run this site teenagers? There has been a price on their heads for over a year. This is not new nor is it news. Any fan who catches photos of them can sell them to a tabloid. So ShowBizSpy stated what most people already know.

I think you post about them just to get hits. I think that you exploit them to the same degree as any tabloid. Half of your debunking is actually just opinion.

As for Rob and Kristen, they are manipulating this. This fantasy that people have about them keeps up the demand for the films and increases their marketability. I have heard all the arguments about how they are deeply private people, or how Summit is oppressing their true love. But the reality is that this supposed romance has taken on a life of its own. It has grown to epic proportions with little evidence and has become the fodder for fantasy for fans and gossip resources across the world. People either the the true, fulfilled love of Edward and Bella or the denied love of Romeo and Juliet (the Summit connection). What they cannot accept is that they are either friends or occasional FWB, and should that ever come to light, there will be a huge backlash.

Kristen once mentioned the fiending and many, many people interpreted it to mean that they were dating. But I think she feared the response. People have been convinced of their love by power of gossip and these people buy movie tickets, merchandise, and create the box office demand for their future work.

This reporter had an opportunity to put the two at the same place at the same time and manufactured a story that people wanted to hear. Now it is being quoted everywhere, That was the desired outcome, not the revelation of truth.

  • Minty

Well said KateWinterman. All everyone has (and by this mean everyone aside from Robert and Kristen) is their own perception of truth.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Audrey-Baldacci/822477836 Audrey Baldacci

It´s a shame that the medias are doing!!!
They must let them enjoy their life.
One thing is taking photos in events and the other is paying to steal intimity.
I hope Rob and Kristen still enjoy and not disgusting with that news, I want to see them happy.
Really the most interest is the money for the medias not knowing if are a couple.
Sometimes understead the famous who make exclusive and then give moneys to benefics association only to the fact that the medias not win money at their cost…sometines is better anticipate to this sharks and perhaps one day Rob and kris show them happy officially and like that the medias let them in peace.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Audrey-Baldacci/822477836 Audrey Baldacci

The other day I said it, the big deal for the medias is the first photo of them as a couple, they want the first kiss photos and until that they will do it Rob and Kris won´t be alone.

I love them together or separate and I want for them the best but I think they must living a hell now.

If I was one of them, I´m thinking that I don´t want nobody win money to my cost and thinking how I can fucking this paparazzi.

Now I can understand the firt photo of daughters´s Brad and Angelina, they sold to OK the firt images because they knewn that the medias will take the photo and anticipate it and the medias lost a lo a money. Perhaps Rob and kris could do something like that, I don´t know exactly, an interview and one photo of them maybe and after maybe it will be finish with this shaming press.

Ayyy I don´t know but it´s terrible thay youngs actors can´t be happy normally, they are famous, ok, but they´ve got the same rights to live like they want.

Go on Rob and Kris, I´m with you!!!!

  • kate

This is why I love you GossipCop. Well said. Putting a bounty on two people even if they celebrities is just sick. Showbiz have lost my respect. These two actors to entitled to their privacy no matter who much fans want to see what they’re doing. Another excellent article. Well done.

  • crmomof2

I think that this is awful. It’s definitely not journalism. Actors owe us appearances on the Red Carpet, promotions for their films, and interviews on TV, but their true personal lives should be off limits. Is the offer that Showbiz Spy made even legal? It’s definitely unethical. It is predatory and just plain evil. This should not be done to any individual. I would feel this way for any actor or public person that is under such scrutiny.

These young people work hard. They are entitled to their private life. I am fan of both…though I admit that I more a fan of Kristen. However, whether they have a relationship other than that of friends and professional colleagues is their business. All this is going to get is to make actors to become more reclusive to protect themselves and their families.

If they are indeed are couple that’s great, wonderful…if they are not it’s their business. If they are couple they should come out and just sell pictures themselves at least they would profit from their happiness and not some tabloid website or magazine from making them miserable.

  • duchess

All the people saying this is terrible should ask themselves these questions. Would you look at the money shot? Did you look at them holding hands in Paris? The truth is these websites & mags are feeding a frenzy, that is you. If you didn’t click on or buy these articles, they would not post them.
It’s also a double edged sword. They need you to be interested in their lives. They need the studios to think they are bankable and give them roles. When it goes too far (as it often does) they claim privacy.

They did this to themselves. They should have been truthful and people would have probably accepted whatever the truth is. It’s got so bad now, with so many different camps for and against them, that the studio’s are worried about sales and boycott’s if they tell the truth. They tried to play a cat and mouse game with the public and now the public is holding them hostage.

  • logic7777

gossip cop stop with the fake sympathy, you are guilty of the sme exploit to get hits to your site,

as for Rob and Kris i Dont feel sorry for them, they brought this upon themselves with the sneaky around and lies,

if they would of been honest from the beginning it would of been more repectible

instead they allow themselves to be fodder for sleezy mags and tabs and became a big Joke

its not good for their careers being tabloid fodder

    its ‘Bennifer’ repeating itself

i do not feel sorry that they are paying the price for their lies, cat and mouse games and deception,

all the gossip leaves a bad taste in my mouth,

its clear they dont respect themselves or their fans.

  • logic7777

this i why i have great respect for ‘stephen and anna’ and also the kids from high school musical,

they came out with the truth in the beginning, they Did not play cat and mouse games and try to manipulate their fans and the media,

Rob and K keep denying a relationship but they are always caught sneaking around and playing games

its Not respectible behaviour you want to project to your younger fan base

its almost like he is the pimp and she is the hooker……..

the whole thing is very weird and bazarre and its going to backfire bigtime,

just wait and see, they are not going to be able to manipulate their fans forever.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Paula-Lynch/100000127524639 Paula Lynch

To logic 7777- Rob and Kristin have not said they are not a couple, they have not said they are a couple. They haven’t said anything at all, that is their right and their business. Why people choose to hate on these two for trying to keep their privacy, when many other artists have done the same. Here are some examples: Beyonce and JayZ, Janet Jackson and whoever she is with, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are married and won’t walk the red carpet together. We as people need to understand that these artists are people just like us. They just happen to have a job that puts them in the spotlight. JOB being the main word here. We do our jobs, we go home and leave our jobs behind to live our personal lives, why shouldn’t it be the same for Rob and Kristin or any other celeb that doesn’t choose to be photographed every second of the day. All these people owe us is a good movie or a great album that we can enjoy. That is their job. Sure, we can be interested and if they choose to let us see pictures of their children or their outside lives it should be their choice. They are not animals to be hunted down.

  • KateWinterman

In theory, Paula, this is true. They should have privacy. However, they became famous because of the supposed “chemistry” in their audition and they played this game for quite a while before and during the first movie promotion, whetting the appetite of the teenage audience. It’s a door that they opened.

Now they were very upfront about not being more than friends for a long time, and the speculation didn’t stop. People didn’t care that they claimed to only be friends. Fans said “well, that was last month when she gave the interview. A lot can change!” That’s what you get when you cater to children and childish adults – you get rampant fantasy.

Are they playing games? I think the game is now controlling them. Nearly every time they were seen together, they were part of a larger group. Manager, security, family members, and/or Rob’s friends were generally close by. Even the supposed romantic vacation over NYE was with his entire group of friends – the little girl who took the photos said as much. But no one cared. They were having a hot and heavy private celebration. And yes, when I was 19 I would have flown across the world to have a great party with a group of friends who I felt safe with, especially if I were hunted and isolated as Kristen is right now. I think they’re trapped and now the inevitable backlash is going to sting.

Additionally, I don’t know about Rob’s staying power. He could outgrow his looks very quickly. But Kristen was considered a significant talent before Twilight and to think that nearly all of what is said about her is about this unconfirmed, circumstantial relationship is a shame. The public will tire of her because her image and her personal life is on every magazine cover and news program.

So there you go. The Robsten shippers are screwing over their idols. They created this monster and it will inevitably harm those involved because, as Rob has said many times, he can’t fulfill their expectations.

  • paulapea

I agree that the feeding frenzy of the younger set can definately damage a career especially if you are branded a teen idol. I think this is exactly why they are trying to stay out of the line of the photogs and choose their next movies wisely, but I also think Rob and Kristin didn’t walk willingly into the lions den. They were pushed. I do remember Kristin saying she thought that Rob was the right person for the part because he wasn’t one of the guys who was all about the fame and the looks and that it felt right when she read with him and Rob said he thought she was one of the best actresses of their generation and that is why he wanted the part. All the chemistry crap was pushed by Catherine Hardwick and the marketing machine for the franchise. I think as it started getting bigger and bigger they were obviously uncomfortable with all the hype. Llving up to that must be very daunting. They could be together or they could be very good friends leaning on each other to get through all the hoopla. Regardless of which, they still should not be hounded by the paps.

  • paulapea

And I think they were very upfront about not being more than friends in the beginning, because they were definately only friends at that point. Now, maybe the lines have clouded and they are not quite sure what they are. I remember being 19 also, although it was quite some time ago, and dating is not easy. Getting to know someone is hard let alone doing it in front of the whole world.

  • Natu2021

Offering cash for invasion of privacy is just plan wrong.
    ———–
    -Agree. Is very Sad :(

  • KateWinterman

Invasion of privacy is an industry, created by public demand. It has been around forever. When the public doesn’t care anymore, no one sees your movies simply because you are in it. This kind of attention needs to manipulated to everyone’s benefit and whoever is supposed to be helping these people through it is failing tremendously and has from the beginning. Perhaps they don’t listen because they want to do it their way – but unless what they have now is the outcome they desired, their way is making things worse.

I am really starting to feel bad for them. That’s why I entered the discussion. This is a lot to handle especially with Kristen being so young yet not being allowed to make mistakes. These demands on them are insane and those doing the demanding are among the ones who claim to care about them the most.

  • RobinEA

I grew up in Hollywood and although it is sad that the cash has been offered for the photos I am just suprised it took this long. The press is rabid for the “couple” photos because Rob ad Kristen have made them valueable. By not answering the couple questions to the point of being silly they have made themselves the biggest target around. BAFTA was a perfect example. They pretend to not notice each other all night and then they sneak off at the end of the party together.( Of course the press will get wind of it.)
The press loses interest fast once they get what they want, if couple pictures were not a big deal the heat would die down.
Both these actors are being paid big bucks and not just for saying a few words on screen. The money is part of the payoff for being a star. It has never been a secret about the price tag that comes with fame and these two will not get a pass. They can make themselves the target or growup and accept both sides of the fame deal.

  • logic7777

let me make one thing clear here,i am NOT a ‘Robsten’ shipper,i never believed they were a couple (Fu… buddies) yes, but nothing more,

i always thought this whole thing was big PR stunt cooked up by summit and their management to keep interest in their movies (Still Do)…….

    with that said…..
they created a monster that is out of their control now,

all kris will be forever known for is being a loose hollywood hookup, they are not talking about her career anymore

she won an award and nobody cared all folks are busy talking about are her hookups, rather its with Rob,orlando bloom or anyone else

    her reputation is shot,

at only 19 its not a good thing.

  • garfuda

the only thing that people and media not yet understood is that they are just humans. I don’t think they are obliged to accept this situation just because they are actors. And they are still very young, especially Kristen to live with some nasty comments of some people. On the Internet people don’t show your face, so take the opportunity to talk horrible things about others. I believe that if they were face to face with the person would not have the courage to speak these horrible things. I hate this offenses and I think this is Disgusting too. There is no ethics and understanding of freedom of the actors.

  • KateWinterman

That really is happening, isn’t it? Kristen is getting a bad reputation also for her attitude, and Robert is either perceived as a love struck fool or a cad. All of this focus on their love lives is such a distraction. Last year even People magazine showed Rob on the front page with a story composed of nothing but unsubstantiated gossip. A woman whom he sat next to at Cannes was presented as a lover. And this is People magazine! They once had integrity.

Seriously, the shippers have to stop. They have done so much harm, and what is only fun and gossip for the audience is having extreme consequences for the objects of their obsession.

  • logic7777

and the ‘Bafta’ awards only confirm their silly attempt at game playing……

they arrived separately, sat separately,no pics allowed together but at the end of the night they left together ………….Huh?…….and what is the rational logical reasoning behind this bizarre behaviour? PRIVATECY?…..
    Yea right!

i agree they dont owe me or anyone else anything but what about themselves?

dont they owe themselves a little dignity and respect?

    what say you?

  • garfuda

logic7777, that is the question: if they arrived or left the BAFTA together or NOT TOGETHER it does not concern you judge whether it is right or wrong, because that’s part of their life and not YOURS!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dawn-Marie/726402393 Dawn Marie

Of course you would do this just about Kristen and Rob. What about all the other celebs who have had to endure crap and false accusations for years. What about the older celebs in Hollywood who have to have endured for decades and decades? Of course you would single out Rob and Kristen so you can play up to the Robsten stants. Again you fail, Gossip Cop.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dawn-Marie/726402393 Dawn Marie

Where is the commentary for Brangelina? They have been hunted down like prey for five years now. And what is worse with them is that they have kids involved. What is happening to Robsten is nothing new.

  • garfuda

I agree gossip cop. Many celebrities have suffered with this, but perhaps only now is becoming clear how this is terrible, because they are so young! and people have no compassion, they just want money. and both of them always made it clear they don’t want this kind of attention and are uncomfortable with that unlike other celebrities such as Heidi Montag that like it.

  • logic7777

as i said before and will say it again,

this is ‘Bennifer’ happening all over again and we all know what happened there,

the public got tired of hearing about ‘Bennifer’ love life, there was a big backlash and their movies Bombed big time,

folks are getting tired of this Robsten crap,

and its only a matter of time before the public turned them off completely,

its gotten so bad now, that no matter where kristen goes she is always accused of hooking up or one night stands with random male celebs,

because that is all the media see her as,a girl who likes to hook up,

you can have all the money in the world but in the end a woman’s reputation is all she got.

  • garfuda

at least brangelina are adults and already has a long career..

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dawn-Marie/726402393 Dawn Marie

Last time I checked 23 and 19 year olds are considered to be adults. And the tabloids are shamless. They don’t care about ages. They make crap up about Miley Cryus who is 17 so of course Kristen and Rob are going to be targets, too.

  • garfuda

logic7777 , your way of thinking is very sexist. she is an actress first and foremost but whatever… I only think any human being deserves respect and her personal life belongs to her and not us. but thank you.

  • logic7777

    to gorfuda……

i said repeatedly they dont owe me anything ,i dont want them to,

iam just pointing out their weird behaviour at the bafta awards show

and now they are reports of them kissing in some pub….

the point iam trying to make here is this stuff is going to turn off some folks and harm their careers because not everyone is a die hard twi fan

if they want to branch out and attract a different kind of audience and move away from the twi franchise they have to leave the childish tom and jerry games behind.

  • logic7777

    to garfuda

iam not sexist just pointing out what i observe from the media perspective…….

with that said the monster is out and its only going to get bigger

lets just hope when the dust clears Rob have his career intact

iam a fan of Rob so i hope it all works out in the end.

many people in this thread has a heart hard enough.
I believe in R and K. I followed them for a long time and I think they are honest. I don’t know if they are dating, just friends or something else, but I know they have not played with their fans and they certainly do not deserve this.

  • Satine8541

I do agree with some of the comments that mention that we the public are as culpable in the despicable acts the paparazzi and Showbiz Spy do to hound this couple as well as other high profiled celebrities. However, I disagree that if they or any high profiled celebrity couple mention that they are a couple it would stop the Paps and salacious websites (PerezHilton), or people who twitter information to others of locations of celebrity whereabouts to stop their constant invasion of their privacy. For example, Brad and Angelina, they have been a couple for awhile and they are constantly photograhed wherever they go.

When we stop purchasing magazines, and hitting on disreputable websites or type verbatim the tweets of celebrity sitings on blogs and twitter, I believe this invasion of privacy will stop. I laugh, however, at people who want to protect this couple when I read some of these blogs (I am no saint, I do occassionally visit some of these sites) but then give out websites and twitter conversation on the couple so they can get their fix. It is really like an addiction.

I also do not believe that R and K are causing their own misery by stating they are or are not a couple. They are both very shy individuals and had no idea Twilight would be as big as it has become, it is one of those Hollywood moments in time that happens every 10 to 20 years, i.e. Titanic and Leonardo DiCaprio. Taylor Lautner is so at ease in front of the glaring eye, but R & K are both very awkward at press conferences and award presentations. As time passes the hysteria will die down as it did for Leo, but until the public gets it fill of R & K, do not expect the paparazzi and others to stop what they are doing until we the public stop what we are doing to intiate it.

This is wrong on any level. Paparazzi laws are long overdue, freedom is for everyone. People need to get a life.

  • Temperance MI

Gay, not gay, having sex, having a baby, hating girls parts, whatever. Get off the Rob and Kristen band wagon! People are bored with all of this, who cares. Leave them alone already, move-on people.

KateWinterman like who are you? What on earth are you spewing? You don’t make any sense and don’t excuse the hideously sleazy behavior of your sleazy papz friends trying to put it off on Shippers or Rob and Kristen fans. No fan of Rob and Kristen wants them to be hunted down like animals or chased to hotel elevators getting out of cabs having a camera stuck in their faces as they proceed to go to their home away from home. IT’S DISGUSTING AND INEXCUSABLE! I don’t care if there was a secret bounty for a year or currently, it’s still sleazy. Kristen and Rob promoted Twilight and New Moon because that’s what actors do. But that doesn’t give you all the right to follow them around doing private things like going out to eat or to a gas station or to a concert or walking to an airplane. No true Rob and Kristen fan needed to click on anyone’s blog to see them hold hands. Only the doubters need proof and they still don’t believe it. True Rob and Kristen fans don’t even need them to be a couple because we appreciate them as they are. We just find it to be a nice addition and just wish they are happy. This doesn’t give you sleazy reporters and photographers the right to follow them. You’re the ones who need the confirmation. A true Twilight fan knows exactly where they’re staying, what they’re filming and we don’t need or want any pictures to confirm this.

So what you’re saying is just to try to justify you and your sleazy friends actions. Stop following them around. Leave them be on their own time. Let them be happy. What they do together is no ones business. It’s all about money. You all are not taking any pictures for the fans…it’s all about money. So don’t blame your papz friends sleazy behavior on the fans. We’re not demanding any proof they are together because we already know.

@ logic7777 — I have to say I agree with everything you have said. I was a big Twilight fan and even though I never thought Kristen was that great of an actress. I did not mind her. I was a little taken aback when all the fans originally hated Kristen and thought she was rude to the fans. I didn’t get it and now things have changed and I really don’t get it. These crazy girls think everything Kristen says and does is the best thing ever. Kristen could take a crap in the middle of the red carpet and these crazy girls would say things like “Kristen is just being real, Kristen looked soooo beautiful when she took a crap on the red caret” Crazy stuff.

I always love Rob I started following him after I saw him in the HP movies and thought he could have a wonderful career ahead of him. When I saw Twilight he (and Rob alone) made me fall in love with the series and I read all the books. Now with all the craziness about what type of relationship he and Kristen have and the crazy crazy Kristen fans or shippers. I have been totally turned off of the Twilight series. I refuse to go to anymore of the movies. It has become such a circus with all of the romance rumors it really has soured my like for the series. I was praying they would not finish the series and stop at Eclipse (my fav book of them all). I will follow Rob’s career and a few of the others but I’m DONE with Twilight. I can not wait until next year when the movies are out and done.

    Dancer,

It seems to be simpler to say who I am not. I am not a photographer nor a reporter. I do not have friends who are photographers and reporters. I am not an advocate for the cause of unrestricted invasion of privacy. So I guess that means that you do not know me. It also means that your reading comprehension is remedial at best.

I am a person who understands the concepts of cause and effect, and supply and demand. Do you know how tabloids determine who to put on the front page? They look at the sale history to determine which celebrity sells the most copies. So why do you think they persist in putting Robert and Kristen on their front pages? Say it with me now – because people buy the papers. The ones who are fueling this insanity are the fans who consume that which is written about them. The papers supply what is in demand, even if they have to manufacture it.

You say that true fans know where they are staying. Really? How do these true fans obtain that information? From gossip? From bloggers passing on gossip? From people snapping pics with their cell phones and selling them to websites or magazines? From invasions of their privacy, perhaps? How DO you obtain all of this information that has not been dispensed from the mouths of the actors themselves?

People say that they love Robert and Kristen. Oh how they love them and want them to be together! How do Rob and Kris feel about these particular fans? Do they love them back? After all, love cannot occur in a vacuum. Well, Robert has said that the obsession with his personal life is insane. Kristen called it fiending. I am not sensing reciprocity here. In fact, I am getting the impression that they are shocked and irritated. But if it is any consolation, your kind is understood by Kristen. She acknowledged that she gets why people want her and Robert to fall in love, to mimic Bella and Edward. In other words, she recognizes that there is a break with reality. Crazy. But not as in you so crazy! More like fava beans and a nice chianti crazy.

So who am I, you ask? I am someone who truly respects them because I accept what they say at face value and do not obsess over filling in the blanks with speculation. I am someone who has seen celebrities crash and burn and never recover and I am getting nervous that they are at risk. I, unlike you, can process what I read and respond accordingly without putting keyboard diarrhea on the screen.

erm , wow. guess this is a rather dicey time to leave my comment but oh well. yes, k and r have opened themselves up to this by being famous, yes this is nothing new, no this does not make it right, no it will never change, even if they do announce themselves as a couple or that they are each dating someone else. doesnt matter to me either way, i love most of their films so far, and i think they are good actors, and will continue to think this no matter what they do in their own time.

however in saying this, i have to agree with what kate said in the last paragraph of the last comment. i am afraid for them, and that all this media hype will cause them to crash and burn. fingers crossed this wont happen, but it is always a possibility.

  • Chloe

@KateWinterman — You are so right. I think the crash and burn is already happening. One by one people will lose interest in one or both of these guys. It is already happening with me. I’m glad when their names will no longer be mention in the same sentence. Worst the same name….Robsten or whatever the shippers call them.

  • dancer1

Kate, let me set the record straight since you don’t know me either not to mention to correct your ignorant assumptions about who I am and what I know. I totally understand supply and demand and I understand the business of journalism as well (offered one of many jobs such as ESPN sportscaster when women really were not in the business straight out of college). So do not assume that I have no understanding of the entertainment/journalistic world since I majored in it in school. But that’s neither here or there because we are discussing RIGHT from WRONG.

I went back and read what you wrote and clearly you have a jaundiced view of fans of Robert and Kristen as well as their relationship. If you truly look at who is in a frenzy over Robert and Kristen’s personal business it’s not really the fans. It’s gossip bloggers, tabloid/gossip entertainment mags and tv shows i.e. Entertainment Tonight etc… True fans were livid when Rob and Kristen are asked about their personal lives in interviews instead of concentrating on the movie. True fans of Twilight care about the story, the movie and the actors/production team etc… and fine the invasion of privacy offensive i.e. Malicious Mandy.

But since you indicated that you are not for an “open-ended invasion of privacy”, then what are your for…what are your limitations? What do you consider enough being enough? And what evidence do you have to make a bold statement that Robert and Kristen are doing this on purpose or let me attribute the actual quote: “Rob and Kristen are manipulating this”. Speaking of fantasy and delusions.

So they maniplated the papz into hiding in a parking lot so they could take a picture of them saying good-bye to her mother before he departs to NY. They manipulated the papz hiding in that van or where ever they were. The papz voyeuristic mentality, greed for money and the drive to be the “first” to obtain an “exclusive” is what this is about. In other words, “we scooped you”, “we caught Rob & Kristen the next morning leaving a hotel”.

No fan demanded this. So don’t tell me what you think a fan of Rob & Kristen wants. As a fan of theirs who’s not a teen, there is no way in the world I would want someone’s privacy to be violated so badly that I would crave having a papz hide in a garbage bin just to get pictures or video of a private moment.

There are true Twilight fan sites like Twilight Lexicon, TwiExaminer, HisGoldenEyes etc… that will NEVER post any papz pictures or videos. So don’t try to blame the fans on the insane behavior of the papz and the gossip mongers. Yes, there are some people who will look at anything but there are plenty who will not and will refuse to retweet, place anything on Facebook or any other blog site regarding any gossip, rumors or papz info on their sites.

In reviewing what you wrote, I do find a disdain for Robert and Kristen although you later you feel sorry for them. You then proceed to blame the papz frenzy not only on Rob & Kristen but on fans called “shippers”. The Shippers from what I have ascertained, do not want Rob & Kristen to be attacked with false rumors and allegations and just want them to be happy (and not just happy together as a couple). I don’t know but wanting people to be happy and successful doesn’t appear to be a bad thing to me.

But in reading what the “Shippers” write particularly on Ted’s AT blog, they appear to defend Rob & Kristen from false rumors, erroneous statements and just plain making up stuff such as “they are manipulating this” without a stitch of evidence being presented. In addition, I believe they basically just want them to have a life and not necessarily together but if they are together then they should have the right to some privacy and just be happy for them. I don’t think that is too much to ask.

Crash and burn? Manipulation? I mean you just can’t go around making this stuff up. In my opinion, Rob and Kristen are together regardless if they announce it or not…I can’t say it’s a fact but the evidence is clear. So people can deny it or not believe it that’s on them. So they want to be together and not have to share it to the world. Manipulation? Running away from the papz into cars, hotels etc…Yeah, they look exactly like two of the most camera hungry, publicity seeking people I’ve ever seen. Oh yeah, running away from having pics taken of them is part of the grand scheme of manipulation oooh, I forgot. Forgive me.

But I digress. There are those of you who will just hate Rob & Kristen and fans of Twilight no matter what. So be it. Enough said.
