Robert Downey Jr. and Wife Susan “Marriage Death Sentence” Report Is Bogus
Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan are NOT having trouble because of their recent movie The Judge, despite a Star report claiming the underwhelming commercial and critical response could be a “marriage death sentence.” Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this story.
According to the outlet, the disappointing returns for The Judge, which Susan co-produced, has now “rattled one of Hollywood’s most stable marriages.” A so-called “source” for Star explains, “It was Susan’s idea to take on The Judge, so she got the wrath when it tanked.” The magazine claims Susan “has always been the alpha in the relationship” with Robert, but the “disaster” of The Judge has purportedly changed things.
The outlet’s insider says, “Robert’s jumped in and taken the reins because he doesn’t want to lose any more of his fortune — he doesn’t have as much money as people think.”
Is this piece for real? The Judge cost $50 million and earned $83 million worldwide. Hardly a hit, but hardly a marriage-shaking “disaster.” Oh, and Downey has been one of the highest-paid Hollywood stars for years, earning tens and tens of millions of dollars annually. In one month, he’ll be starring in the sequel to the third-highest grossing movie in history. He and Susan are not hurting for cash.
A source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop exclusively, “It’s completely untrue” that there are any marriage repercussions following The Judge. We’re told the couple is doing just fine.
