RL Bell “America’s Got Talent” Audition Video: Singer Stuns With “Me And Mrs. Jones” – WATCH!
A singer named RL Bell stunned the judges on Tuesday’s “America’s Got Talent.” Check out the video below!
The 50-year-old contestant, a former bodybuilder, came out on stage looking stylish and slick, prompting host Nick Cannon to quip, “I hope I look that good when I’m 50!” Bell shared that he’s from Texas, where he works as a massage therapist in Houston. That led Heidi Klum to joke, “We need the number.”
Howie Mandel was more interested in whether clients ask Bell to sing as he gives them massages. “Howie, that’s kind of hard to do. I’m trying to focus with my hands, but then I’m trying to focus with my hands, too,” he explained in reply. “So I just put in a CD of mine that I made at home and I just played it.”
But his audition was no CD rendition. Bell showed off a ridiculous falsetto on “Me And Mrs. Jones.” He also ditched his sunglasses and stripped off his velvet jacket during the intense performance.
Klum said afterward, “I thought it was quite a journey. Wow!” Simon Cowell was more measured, saying, “That was like a whole bag of sugar, because it was getting so corny — practically turned into a striptease halfway through. We kind of have to de-corny you and make it all about your voice.”
Mel B disagreed, though, saying, “I actually like the whole showmanship. I think you have a chance at this.” Howie Mandel actually gave him a “no,” and it seemed like it would be girls versus boys in the vote. But at the audience’s urging, Cowell gave that third “yes,” allowing Bell to move on to the next round.
The music mogul admitted that, judging only on the audition, it would be a “million percent” rejection. But, “based on where I think you can go possibly, I’m gonna take a shot and say yes,” Cowell said. As it turns out, Bell is actually no stranger to TV. He previously competed on ABC’s “Karaoke Battle USA” back in 2011. That tidbit wasn’t mentioned on “AGT.” Watch the full video below!
