Rita Ora says she is not “Becky,” the woman referenced in Beyonce’s song “Sorry.”

As Gossip Cop has reported, Beyonce’s new album Lemonade raised eyebrows on Saturday with its allusions to cheating, with many assuming Jay Z had been unfaithful. One lyric specifically referenced “Becky with the good hair.” On Monday, Ora became the latest star accused of being the “Becky” in question.

But now the British star is denying the link. “I never usually address tabloid gossip but let me be clear, these rumours are false,” Ora tweeted on Tuesday. “I have nothing but the upmost [sic] respect for Beyonce. Let’s continue enjoying Lemonade.”

Fans had connected Ora to the track because of her work with Jay Z’s record label. But she also fueled the speculation herself by posting a photo wearing a top with lemons on it, and then stepping out in an outfit that matched one Beyonce had worn in her “Formation” music video. Ora is now the second woman to deny being “Becky with the good hair,” following Rachel Roy.

As Gossip Cop reported, she, too, fanned the flames with a suggestive social media post, before releasing a statement on Tuesday rejecting any legitimate connection to the song. And while Beyonce and Jay Z remain mum, it’s entirely possible “Becky” is more rooted in fiction than reality.
