Several circus performers were injured on Sunday after a problem occurred during a performance at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in Providence, Rhode Island.

The act, known as the “Human Chandelier,” was set to begin when the high wire the performers were on broke, sending them crashing down to the ground approximately 30 feet below.

The cable snapped ironically right as the announcer said they acrobats were “suspended only by the string… ”

In the video (below), you can hear a child ask, “Are they supposed to fall like that?”

Emergency crews responded immediately.

Gossip Cop is told there there are some serious injuries to around nine performers, but none are life-threatening.

In total, approximately 20 circus performers were hurt.

We will continue to update.
