LISTEN: Rihanna Opens Up to Ryan Seacrest About Chris Brown

AUDIO

Rihanna called into Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Thursday morning and discussed a range of things (London, Battleship, going blonde, losing weight), but most interesting was her rationale for recently collaborating with ex Chris Brown.

“I reached out to him about doing ‘Birthday Cake’ because [he was] the only person that really made sense to do the record, just as a musician despite everything else [he] was going to be the person,” explains Rihanna.

She adds, “You know, I thought about rappers, and I’ve done that so many times, [but] the hottest R&B artist out right now is Chris Brown. So I wanted him on the track.”

Given Rihanna and Brown’s history, many fans had questioned her decision to collaborate with him musically.

But the “We Found Love” singer sees things differently.

“We did two records. One for my fans. One for his fans. And that way, our fans can come together,” Rihanna told Seacrest. “There shouldn’t be a divide.”

I think she’s an adult and free to make her own mistakes. And that there should be as great a divide as possible between her and Chris Brown.

  • pixie1824

I used to respect her, especially after that interview she did with Diane Sawyer, but now I’m just done. I can’t even listen to her music anymore. I switch the station when her music comes on just like I do when Chris Brown’s does.

There have been plenty of fighting and feuding couples in the industry over the years, just like in real life. That’s just the way it goes. They can make up their own minds to do whatever they do, because it won’t have an influence on my own life or effect my own decisions either. It is what it is.

So why did u comment saying that?

  • Anonymous

Free to make mistakes? U mean free to make her own choices. Everyone makes mistakes. Its part of human nature.

  • Lilmusiclvr28

I thought he had some sort of restraining order that he couldn’t come within 100 feet of her?? It was mentioned during the Grammy’s. So did that get dropped? Yes she is free to make her own choices and live her life but going back to an abuser even as a “friend” is not healthy. If something happens to her again at his hands it won’t be sympathy or empathy for her….fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!!

As I’ve always said…there is 2 sides to every story and there is much more to this one than what was told in the media. The fact that she has always been so much more willing to forgive and forget while the public, who didn’t take the beating, has not been tells me that she has her own inner demons and reasons why/why not. Therefore…their problem. Thank God I only focus on how entertaining they are and don’t look to any celebrity to be more than that. That way I’m never disappointed just more or less entertained.

They are hardly a “fighting and feuding couple.” He is a batterer and she is a victim of abuse. Making light of it helps no one.

Y do u have an attitude it’s her life she is a grown woman y are people so into their business. I hope they do work it out and prove the whole world wrong.

  • chuck

i think, that if he ever beats her up again, i won’t give it a second thought.

  • SuzyCreamCheese

Yes, she can’t collabrate with Jay Z or Eminem, Chris Brown is the only one, the Woman Beater!
Makes Perfect sense. NOT! At least he didn’t knock the stupid out of her. It’s still there.

  • GaPeach

All I can say is: Money makes strange bedfellows.

  • Danny

I believe the restraining order is still there, but it’s not as bad as it used to be because she wanted him to be able to perform and everything and have that freedom professionally.

  • Priscilla52782

I think the songs sound great!

To live with hate tears you up quicker than to live with forgiveness. You can’t really tell a person how to live their life. I have forgiven many people over the years. That in itself has taken a big strain off of how I feel, relate, react and the aura that I send out to people. Just because she has forgiven him, doesn’t mean that she is sleeping with him either. You are doing yourself a BIG favor not to hate.

  • taffie

Evey1 has an opnion and wen yu in the spotlyt its hard coz every1 is on yr case, this is wrong this is ryt, bt Rihanna just does wat she likes she doesnt care, hate it or love it, she will jus do it. I honestly don care much abt eir personal lives, Riri and CB, if yu make gud music yu have my respect, that is all. I got 2 noe both of them, coz of eir music, and il kip it.that way, professional. Lol

It’s time for people to move on. These are both adults. They, and ONLY they, know the inside scoop on their relationship and what happened that night. No one is making “light” of it, but I find it amazing that people (like you?) can be so up in the business of people they don’t even know. What they do or don’t do isn’t going to make one iota of difference in YOUR life. And they certainly don’t care what you think. If this is your biggest problem in life, you’re lucky.

  • Realmgal

    Well said….

  • Mrs Office15

what you said. mf act like they aint been through nuthin. they are free to do whatever pleases them. i love rihanna.

  • Anonymous

    Yawn.

  • Muffy

She was not a victim of abusive. She has said herself. It happened one time and it was not a great moment in either of their lives, but they have moved pass it. They are not together, but they are friends. You did NOT date either one of them. MyKinKStar is right.
