Rihanna Perfume Ad Too Sexy For U.K.
Rihanna is too hot for the U.K.
The British Advertising Standards Authority has ruled that an advertisement for the singer’s Rogue perfume is too “sexually suggestive” to be seen by children, and has therefore restricted where it can be placed.
In the image, Rihanna is seen with her legs raised against a bottle of the fragrance, covering her naked chest (see right and below).
Of course, the performer is not afraid to show skin, and the company behind the scent explained that the picture “sought to capture” her “provocative” persona without “featuring improper nudity or offensive, suggestive or demeaning imagery.”
But the standards authority felt differently.
“While we did not consider the image to be overtly sexual, we considered that Rihanna’s pose, with her legs raised in the air, was provocative,” explained the body.
They continued, “Because of this, and the fact that Rihanna appeared to be naked except for high heels, we concluded that the ad was sexually suggestive and should have been given a placement restriction to reduce the possibility of it being seen by children.”
