Rihanna Denies New Album Debuting For Launch Of Jay Z’s Tidal
Rihanna is denying her highly anticipated album, tentatively titled R8, is dropping on Monday to coincide with when Jay Z debuts his music streaming service Tidal. On Monday, a rumor circulated that Rihanna was going to release the album on Tidal, but she quickly shut down the claim, tweeting a link to the inaccurate report with the message, “LIES!!!”
As Gossip Cop previously reported, last week Rihanna debuted “B*tch Better Have My Money,” her latest single from the upcoming album, and then gave a performance of the song at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday. So far, there’s no word on when the album will be released.
There’s been a lot of mystery surrounding Jay Z’s music streaming project. The rapper’s company, S. Carter Enterprises, announced earlier in March that it had purchased Tidal. The app is expected to launch at 5 p.m. on Monday during an event in New York. Several of Jay Z’s celebrity friends have already started teasing the launch on Twitter, and have urged their fans to support the app. Rihanna tweeted, “NAVY, turn the tide” and Usher wrote, “It’s time to turn the tide and make music history. Show you are part of the movement…. #TIDALforALL.”
