Rihanna Blasts Magazine For Calling Her The N-Word

Truth rating: 10

(GettyImages.com)

Rihanna is furious with Dutch fashion magazine Jackie for referring to her as “the ultimate [n-word b*tch]” in a piece about how to dress like the pop star.

The mag, which also described her bottom as “ghetto” and mistakenly referred to the Barbadian singer as Jamaican, issued a (weak) apology on Facebook, but Rihanna was less than satisfied with the attempt.

The singer blasted the mag’s editor-in-chief Eva Hoeke on Twitter, writing, “I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!!”

Rihanna adds that the feature “degrade[s] an entire race” and encourage[s] segregation,” and ends her tirade by saying, “On behalf of my race, here are my two words for you… F*CK YOU!!!”

Hoeke wrote on Facebook that the piece “was intended as a joke… a bad joke, to say the least” and that it “slipped” through her fingers.

She added, “It was stupid, it was naive to think that this was an acceptable form of slang,” but that “there was no malice behind it.”

What do you think of the whole Rihanna-Jackie debacle?

Rihanna is far from ignorant, you’re the nigger for posting that.
FYI, that’s what that word means: IGNORANT.

Rihanna’s liberal usage of the n-word and b-word has come back to haunt her. The danger in referring to yourself as such is that the rest of the world is listening and liable to take you at your word. If you are among those of us who understands that to get respect you must first respect yourself, the following link will be of immense interest to you:

FUCK YOU! and your racist comments. The world doesn’t need racist ASSHOLES like you. This is when you wish bad things on bad people like you, or at least I won’t feel bad if something bad happen to you.

  • Chloe

Agreed…the word should never be used by anyone. No excuses…

  • J_lyn

I don’t blame her for being insulted, that magazine was way out of line.. and an attempt at being funny? Doesn’t come across as a joke at all!

  • J_lyn

Your right! Not using the word regardless of race is the only way to eradicate it.

isn’t she the one that wears a necklace with “bitch” on it? or maybe it’s “fuck”… can’t remember. Regardless, she ACTS low class and markets herself with the “ghetto” type slang… and then is put off when it’s used in reference to her?

The fact that this comment is allowed to remain here while having 3 likes shows how shitty the comments are here. They’re like Youtube level quality.

  • Kristy

You can’t use the word to describe yourself and then get pissed off when other people use it to describe you.. Double standards right there.. And besides that, the whole drama surrounding “the n-word” really only exists in America.. Not anywhere else in the world.

  • Anonymous

and you’re an effing asshole… whether she is or isn’t it’s the worst thing to call a person with that shit. i bet you don’t even know what the “n” word means asshole.

  • cherri

I can’t stand Rihanna but I’m on her side here. Jackie/Eva Hoeke are way out of line. And that apology (if that’s what we’re calling it) is a further insult.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_URU7OUSHBTRQJZZOIRFNOQ7VZQ Justin

I agree. She shouldn’t use the word if she doesn’t like it so much. Either the N word or the B word or anything that she won’t like somebody calling her back. Nonetheless, she holds every right to be mad when it’s used in the way the magazine used. That was just plain disgusting and horrific. Two wrongs don’t make a right. She shouldn’t use it and the magazine should be shut down. Is that the kind of crap they let fly in Germany?? I had to accidentally wind up on this site I’ve never even heard of to hear about this?? Meanwhile J.Lo and the Kardashians fill my regular news feed?? WTF????

  • Nicety

What is ghetto slang.I was under the impression that ghetto is a place. You might want to look up the defintion because I am pretty sure it doesn’t have to do with your speech.I am not her biggest fan but how would you rate class? I am just asking because in my opinion you rate rather low because of your uneducated views.

  • Nicety

You say drama like it is nothing to be upset over.I think when you are devaluing someone it is something to get upset over.It is a demeaning word that people use without the knowledge of what it really means. Many people have lost their lives over that word.I don’t mean just black people but people in general.I am not better than you and you are not better than me so why would you or anyone else feel that it is ok to make judgements about me and call me out of my god given name, and vice versa. As far as Rihanna goes I don’t know her but most of these celebrities create these personas to make a living and are totally different behind closed doors and it is the media and the publics fault. They know in order to be in they have to do wild things…(kind of like selling their soul to the devil). If they don’t are the papers, magazines, etc. going to write about them. They maybe very talented but boring doesn’t sell and that is the sad truth. It doesn’t matter what she,you or I call ourselves it doesn’t give anyone the right to disrespect or demean you.

  • higglty pigglty

Justin, that was Dutch as in Netherlands not Deustche as in Germany…just for the record.Don’t want to malign the German people for a remark made in a Dutch magazine.

  • lesigh

I’m sorry, but Rihanna is just as racist by saying ”I don’t know if you can understand english”, implying that Dutch people can’t as that woman was by saying Rihanna was a Nigger. Not only that, but Rihanna has often referred to herself as a nigger or a bitch so I don’t get what all this fuss is about. The woman was fired, and Dutch people are not as ignorant as this woman is. It does sadden me to see that many of YOU here now say ” is this the kind of crap they let fly in Holland/Germany” worry about your own country and it’s problems first before making such bold statements about countries in Europe.

  • jane

That’s right…..in in order to respect you Rihanna…you have to respect yourself first. YOU have used both those two ‘words’ to joke about with your friends….i have seen it myself. So before you point a finger at some else…..point it at you first #justsaying

  • cherri

Yoy clearly have issues, what you and your friends do is between you and your friends…note FRIENDS….when a publication take that stand.. it takes on a whole other meaning,………my friends call each other dog day in and day out……know this saying….hey dog……..but when a publication refer to someone as a dog, different level……….the person responsible for the article carried the ‘joke’ too far……….

  • Nicety

So if you referred to yourself as I don’t know crazy and they locked you up in a psych ward that would be ok? Like I said I don’t know her but however she refers to herself still doesn’t give you or I or anyone else the the right to demean her. The fact that they used that and the whole article in a demeaning way is wrong. This is a poor excuse for a joke. The bigger problem is that with all the stories she could be focusing on she has time to sit around and “joke” by putting someone else down. That is malice, how could ever an article like that ever be considered funny. You have to have a warped sense of humor to find it in any way funny. As a journalist she should have done her homework and found that this was not insulting Rihanna alone but it was actually calling her intelligence into question. She says this was a bad joke but this is not funny in any form, and this is more about the racism and ignorance of the article in general.

  • Ibascream

you peoples be so dum. when the rhiana sing she only sing to her peoples. she sayed that. any a way boreds and rocks can brake my stones but name wont able to hurt me.

  • Shaniqua

I find it extremely racist and degrading that she felt it appropriate to respond with a “FU*K YOU!” from her “entire race”. Who the hell does she think she is to speak for all Barbadians? She does not have that authority, and many would be disgusted to think that she’d used that language on their behalf and without their consent. She could have risen above it but instead she went on a high-pitched ghetto-fabulous rant which effectively confirmed everything that magazine wrote about her.

  • Kristy

No I say drama because that’s what america makes it appear as. There’s a whole other world outside of america’s borders. A world where “the n-word” virtually doesn’t exist and it certainly doesn’t carry the same weight as it does over there. And if “the n-word” really bothers her and others so much, they shouldn’t use it to describe or market themselves in any way, shape or form. Not in their songs, not in interviews, nothing.

  • Ibascream

you so dum mister. you talk dum. it be foo like them coo bye yah peoples

  • Asdas

she is black though haha lighten up.

  • Replying to retards

Then i guess we should also lighten up and call all women bitches, all white people crackers and all asians chinks then, huh?

so you are the same racist as the woman from magazine, exactly the same racist as Rihanna ,and by using this word you should be sacked from your job-in case you working,or to be prosecuted for racism…..One meter system my dear.Deal with that!!!!!
