Rihanna Returns To Instagram Six Months After Nude Photo Controversy (PICS)
Rihanna is back on Instagram. The singer announced her long-awaited comeback late Saturday.
“Hellurrr #badgalback,” Rihanna captioned a selfie on her re-activated @badgalriri account. Her return comes six months after pulling the account in the wake of a nude photo dispute with Instagram. As Gossip Cop reported, in April Rihanna posted several naked pictures from various magazine shoots, leading to a warning from Instagram that they would shut down her page if she continued to violate their policies against nude content.
Rihanna responded by leaving Instagam altogether. She re-posted the controversial shots on Twitter, and then began using her Twitter account exclusively. In May, she even slammed an Instagram impostor who falsely claimed to be the performer under the name “@BADGIRLRIRI_AGAIN.” Rihanna confirmed at the time, “#PHAKE !!!! Let’s be clear, I do NOT have an IG account!”
But now Rihanna has returned for real, and despite their previous issues, Instagram has welcomed the star back with open arms. The photo-sharing site’s official Twitter account tweeted, “Welcome back @rihanna! #RIHunited #badgalback.” The tweet linked to one of Rihanna’s new Instagram posts, which featured a cartoon drawing of the Grammy winner holding hands with an Instagram mascot.
On Sunday morning, Rihanna continued to celebrate her comeback. She posted a screengrab from a CNN story announcing her return, writing, “late$t new$ #2pacback.” Some have speculated that Rihanna’s return could indicate she has a new album to promote soon, but that has not been confirmed.
