Rihanna Tweets “#FreePalestine” — Immediately Deletes It [UPDATED]
Rihanna tweeted “#FreePalestine” on Tuesday before deleting it.
Her message came as a proposed cease-fire between Israel and Hamas was abandoned when several dozen rockets were launched from militants in Gaza as the region’s bloody conflict continued.
The singer has not commented on the decision to pull the message, nor has she tweeted anything new as of this reporting.
But TMZ is now reporting that Rihanna’s camp claims Rihanna did NOT mean to tweet what she tweeted, and that the whole thing is a misunderstanding.
A source tells the outlet that Rihanna was reading about the situation in the Middle East and clicked a link, not even realizing she’d tweeted “#FreePalestine” until she started hearing feedback from fans.
The Rihanna insider is quoted as saying that she supports neither side in the conflict, but is “pro-peace… she doesn’t want innocent people dying.”
NBA star Dwight Howard tweeted “#FreePalestine” on Saturday and pulled it, too, later apologizing and calling it a “mistake.”
