Rihanna On Chris Brown: “I’m A Fan”

(Esquire)

Rihanna tells Esquire she’s happy for ex-boyfriend Chris Brown‘s huge success, even though their relationship ended after he assaulted her hours before the 2009 Grammys.

The singer explains that her rage toward Brown following the incident “was taking up too much of my time,” and she’s since moved on.

“It was too much anger. I’m really excited to see the breakthrough he’s had in his career,” says Rihanna.

Brown’s F.A.M.E. album has produced a number of hits for him, and the performer has gradually re-entered public life as he serves his five-year probation for the felony attack on Rihanna.

“It’s incredible to see how he pulled out the way he did,” she says. “Even when the world seemed like it was against him, you know?”

She adds, “I really like the music he’s putting out. I’m a fan of his stuff. I’ve always been a fan.”

And while their personal relationship ended in ugly fashion, Rihanna seems to have put it behind her.

“I would never wish anything horrible for him,” she says.

Its really big of her to come out and say this.

Although I appreciate her being able to confess her respect for Breezy but I also think she is also trying to send him a msg indirectly. I know teambreezy aint that gullible but Chris name sells magazines nowadays.

Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive Rihanna Naked Pictures and Video here: http://su.pr/4hVqKP

  • Jaded

Wow that’s amazing. The sexiest woman alive has nothing better to talk about than her abusive ex-boyfriend. I am so sick of her talking about this. Is this the only interesting thing that has ever happened in her life? Maybe she should think about volunteering at a crisis center. See what its like for abused women who don’t have the opportunity to channel their pain into countless magazine interviews that are accompanied by a naked picture, or songs about how she likes being beaten.
Maybe she’d be taken more seriously if she didn’t do an interview about her beating every time her album sales drop.
I appreciate that’s she’s working out her anger, but she’s trivializing it for the other women who are abused.

The whole world was against him Riri, while you did tv. interviews and made more money off the incident. Sorry but I have no respect for either of them but at least Chris is more honest about the type of person he is, she was a victim I get that but that soon changed as she turned into a predator, slandering Chris while she shone in the limelight. Sorry but ever since she took months to talk about it but then coincidentally (note-sarcasm) did that interview as her album was dropping a couple of weeks later, her true colors were shown. She is disgusting, I’m not saying she had to become the poster child for domestic abuse but something like that touches you, if I had been in the position especially with her money/fame/platform to make a change. I’d do more than say “I’m telling my story for the young girls” bullshit line, I’d be there at abuse shelters helping others who didn’t get out so luckily. I don’t have MS or Alzheimer’s disease but damn it every time those walks come to town once a year, I’m there because people I know have been affected and one day I pray for a cure. If I can get that passionate about a cause that doesn’t directly affect me then why they hell can’t she get passionate about a cause that did directly affected her…because she’s selfish. She cares so much for the young girls but sure as hell doesn’t dress/act like any type of role model for her young fans. She is so fake.

i think both are full of themselves Rihana is really pissing me off more that his own “fans” i find it so wrong that she now defends him i understand that whats in the past is in the past but still promoting his music imo is promoting violent behavior against women why , cause how can a man that beat up a woman sing songs about love ? HOW ? How can he truly understand it if he beat a woman up , he had probation yes but it still doesnt mean he is fine or actually better , all i know is whoever dates this man has to know he has a violent past he can beat a woman up again , who knows how far he can take it ,i cannot understand how effed up our world is we glamorize domestic abuse its so wrong

I’m starting to feel embarrassed for this chick. To forgive and move on is one thing, but to start praising and rooting for the ex who beat your face in is another. I don’t read where he keeps talking about her or praising her but here she is.

She could avoid this topic by not speaking at all but you know what? I think she’s desperate to get back with this guy. I really do. She’s a sad case.

And she does not deserve to be called the sexiest of anything. I find her really unappealing now. Over-sexed Image? She should win that one, hands down…..

  • 100% True

@Lannon Ellis, please tell us, thou self righteous one without sin,

whats the way forward for her?

Abandon someone you grew up with and love dearly because of 1 “terrible” mistake in over 5 years? Refuse all apologies and hold on to a grudge for LIVE?!

May I remind you that Rihanna is not American=> she is from the West indies & then definitely don’t share a western culture of hypocrisy and un-forgiveness.

Have you every being truly in love and then violently ripped apart from it? I’M GUESSING YOUR ANSWER IS NO! so be quiet and let her figure this out on her own.

She has money, she has success! but those can’t buy her LOVE which is the point of existence.

She grew up with Chris Brown, she met and knew chris when they were no-body, young and very pure without the politics of career and money; their lives are inter-woven, this can’t be replaced by all these recent acquaintances.

Its never a straight line when it comes to matters of the heart & its better expressed & not suppressed.

Rihanna has tried to please you people with her live for 2-3 years now & its not easy to live your life for other people “trying to be politically correct and ethically right in the public eye”…. thats not her.

If you truly love Rihanna, you’d let her be herself & stop trying to control her.

I feel like your being wwwaaaayyyy dramatic….i mean im not saying that domestic violence is ok but i’ve been in this situation before and even though me and that person are no longer together he did get better without going to jail and being on probation. we till this day remain friends, im so tired of people saying that if a man beats a woman once he’ll do it again. thats ignorant, because in some cases thats not true. instead of tearing a person down for a mistake he made one time when he was young we should be trying to encourage this person to get help and support the journey of recovery. its not our place to judge because you dont know the full situation just what you read in articles and see in interviews (he say she say). So before making judgement on a person down why not encourage growth and pray for them.
