Jay Penske’s HollywoodLife, a site that gets so much wrong, now claims that Chris Brown allegedly sent Rihanna an apology letter on New Year’s Eve, and that she subsequently burned it. This never happened, a source close to the two exclusively tells Gossip Cop.

The blog, which repeatedly get stories about Brown and Rihanna wrong, at one point even spreading false engagement rumor, reports that he “tried to make a peace offering” over the holidays, “sending her a letter apologizing for all the pain he’s caused her.” But Rihanna supposedly “made it clear that he was out of her life for good.” How so?

The webloid’s source explains that Rihanna is “never one to shy away from a little strong symbolism” and “decided to make that clear one night while partying with friends.” “As they smoked, Rihanna pulled out this fake a** letter,” continues the HollywoodLife tipster. “She put it in the middle of the bed on top of a big candle-holder, and put her burnt ashes on it. They all started to put ashes on that letter until it burned. Rihanna said, ‘good riddance,’ and continued to entertain her guests.”

Now, was this the same person who told HollywoodLife that Rihanna was joining “The X Factor”? Was it the one who told HollywoodLife Rihanna was “smitten” with Justin Bieber? Or was the person who fed HollywoodLife the story about Rihanna “getting serious” with Colin Farrell?

The point is: HollywoodLife makes stuff up or has the worst sources ever. Neither is a good choice. The site repeatedly spreads fabricated stories about Rihanna. This one is more of the same. A source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop there was no such letter, and certainly not any kind of symbolic fire.
