Rihanna Gets “Goosebumps” Singing “American Oxygen” For First Time At March Madness Music Festival (VIDEO)
Rihanna performed “American Oxygen” live for the first time at Saturday’s March Madness Music Festival, an experience that left her emotionally overwhelmed. Check out the video below!
The 2015 installment of the annual three-day event was held in Indianapolis, timed to the NCAA’s Final Four competition. Rihanna was the headliner of the Coke Zero Countdown concert at White River State Park. The singer’s set included “Diamonds,” “Stay,” “We Found Love,” and, as mentioned, “American Oxygen.” Rihanna sang about the American dream and “new America” in front of the American flag.
Rihanna wrote on Twitter afterward, “Thank you Indiana!!!! I would never forget how much fun I had with you tonight!! You blew me away!!! Thank you man!! One love always.” And even though “American Oxygen” hasn’t been officially released, the crowd responded to the performance quite strongly. “You SANG EVERY F*CKING WORD!!!!” tweeted Rihanna. “That sh*t legit give me goosebumps!!”
As Gossip Cop previously reported, “American Oxygen” was first teased early last month in a promo for March Madness coverage on CBS, TNT, TBS, and TruTV. Rihanna tweeted at the time, “MarchMadness #AmericanOxygen #R8 #NavyRDie,” a hint that the song will likely be featured on her highly-anticipated album, believed to be tentatively titled “R8.”
In addition to Rihanna, March Madness Music Festival performers included Imagine Dragons and Weezer on Friday, as well as Bleachers and Passion Pit on Saturday. Sunday’s shows are slated to feature Cole Swindell, Kacey Musgraves, Lady Antebellum, and the Zac Brown Band. Many of the sets have been live streamed, including Rihanna’s. Hours after the show, the singer released the studio version of “American Oxygen” on Tidal, the new music-sharing platform she co-owns with Jay Z and other top stars.
