Ricky Ubeda and Jessica Richens Get Standing O for “Other-Worldly” Routine on So You Think You Can Dance (VIDEO)
Ricky Ubeda and Jessica Richens performed a stunning contemporary routine on Wednesday’s “So You Think You Can Dance.”
The first live episode of the season featured performances from all of the Top 20, but it was Ubeda and Richens who really stood out.
The judges gave the duo a standing ovation for their intricate dance that was as flawless as it was moving.
Nigel Lythgoe said afterward, “I think it’s really important that America understands that this is another level entirely that we’ve just witnessed here.”
“It’s the first time that I’ve heard a ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ audience not screaming madly because we were just in awe of what we were seeing,” Lythgoe noted.“It was other-worldly.”
He added, “One of the best routines I have ever seen.”
Mary Murphy told the dancers, “That just came from heaven. That’s all there is to it… It touched every single person. If anyone out there didn’t feel connected to that number and the two of you, well, there’s something wrong with them.”
“It was the best number of the night for me,” she declared.
And guest judge Jason Derulo thanked Ubeda and Richens for “for blessing me and the millions of people out there with that.”
