Ricky Gervais Gives Kevin Costner Weird Advice For Taming Wolves (VIDEO)
Host Norton pointed out on the British talk show, which also featured Ewan McGregor, Eric Bana and Helen Mirren as guests, that an extra on the DVD of Costner’s film, Dances with Wolves, features him trying to direct the titular wild animals. “When I met the [animal trainer] with the wolves, he showed me how they would behave,” Costner explained. “He would push a button and they would come.” The actor went on to reveal, “But when I got out there, those wolves didn’t do s**t.” Costner went on to note that production on the film was 10 days over schedule, and he wasn’t about to “change the namesake of the movie.” Norton, however, suggested he could have called it Dances with Dogs.
Costner eventually managed to get the wolves to behave for their scenes, saying, “Listen, when it’s your money, you make everything howl.” Fellow guest Gervais then chimed in, “They like their belly being rubbed.” The comedian further elaborated to Costner, who was confused by Gervais’ comment. “My girlfriend got me a present to go with these wolves,” Gervais said. “They weren’t tamed, but they were socialized. That means they just don’t kill you yet.”
The comic added, “And they were huge and they liked having their belly rubbed. I tickled a wolf’s belly!” But Mirren questioned if Gervais was rubbing the right part of the animal. “Was it the belly you were tickling?” she asked, to which Gervais exclaimed, “Ah! Right.” Watch the funny “Graham Norton Show” video below!
