Ricky Gervais Blogs About Drinking After Show with Golden Globe Targets

Truth rating: 10

(GettyImages.com)

Ricky Gervais took to his blog to dispel rumors that stars were upset over his Golden Globes routine.

Yesterday, Gervais issued a statement saying, “Everyone took it well,” but apparently that wasn’t enough.

So today the comedian turned to his own blog, dismissing the rumors as the “same conspiracy theories as last year.”

Gervais says the refrains generally go, “So and so was offended;” that he “hasn’t been invited back yet,” and that Paul McCartney was “furious.”

“No he wasn’t,” writes Gervais, adding, “Nor was Tim Allen and Tom Hanks. I was drinking with them after.”

Believe him?

What is the URL for Gervais’ blog? I’m not seeing a link.

Oh yes, and I believe him. Obviously the Tim Allen line was agreed upon beforehand because Hnaks set him up and if the intro was off-the-cuff, they wouldn’t have known about it, beforehand.

Of course the blogs all thought Ricky may have been fired halfway through the show, primarily because they didn’t even bother to familiarize themselves with the standard Golden Globes format.

What part of “totally unacceptable” does Gervais not understand?

I usually love Ricky Gervais! BUT….the best comedians in the world aren’t funny when they are tearing apart other people…..even “stars” deserve respect. They sure didn’t sign up for stuff like that! Big mistake this time Ricky…..you weren’t funny, you were just nasty and boring. Hope you are replaced for next year.

  • Suefromnc

@smartchick, YOU said it right!!! I usually find Ricky funny too but he was just plain rude!! I too hope they will reconsider someone else for next year!!! Get Ellen back!!! :D

  • MissZee

you guys need to realize something, if he didn’t make the jokes, someone else would have and they could have been more rude…take Russel Brand, he don’t hold back AT ALL….also, these celebs KNOW that if/when they mess up, it’s out on the front page of mags…they know the drill…so if they get made fun of, it’s their own damn fault

I didnt see the awards but i wish i did, if only just to hear Ricky’s lines first hand. While i do think that his line about RDJ was in bad taste, the rest was gold. All of the “outrage” seems to be coming from critics, not the celebs themselves. For the most part, they all loved him.

I saw the Golden Globes and I never watch award shows. The only reason I tuned in was to see Ricky Gervais hosting. Spent the rest of the time doing other things but would come back to the tube when he was back on.
He is hilarious!! Yes, some of his material was a little on the edgy side but that’s what I like about him. The reason I don’t watch these shows is because kind of tired of watching overpaid actors patting each other on the back for doing their jobs. Political correctness is getting out of hand. LIGHTEN UP FOLKS
So, Ricky, keep up the good work and tell the whiners to get a life and laugh at themselves a little more.
LIfe is short, enjoy it with a good laugh or two every day.
