Regis Philbin ended his last “Live!” broadcast with a short, sweet goodbye speech in which he thanked everyone who helped him along the way and stressed that the show will continue with Kelly Ripa.
He explained the long-running program’s success by saying that viewers have always told him it “makes them feel better.”
“It makes them happy, and I’ll never be able to top that,” he said.
Philbin concluded, “Thank you very much for these great years together, God bless you all, and I hope you see you again real soon.”
